Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Tickets, Trips and Experiences
Cinnamon Bun and one other reacted to Jinzha for a topic
There will be a second round of sales with single tickets (no obligation to buy a pack of 3 sessions), which will likely include the finals. Whether they will be harder to get hold of depends on how many people sign up for the lottery, I'd assume the next round will be even more popular personally. Because the Games are closer and the finals are included.2 points -
Tennis Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
Makedonas and one other reacted to JoshMartini007 for a topic
With two singles quotas per gender available to previous GS/gold medal winners I wanted to see who would be eligible. The priority goes to the athlete with the most Grand Slam and Olympic wins with the next tie breaker going to the higher ranked athlete. Athletes must be in the top 400 and not already qualified through the rankings. Here's where we stand after the 2023 Australian Open. Men Athlete GS/Olympic Wins World Ranking Rafael Nadal 23 6 Novak Djokovic 22 1 Andy Murray 5 64 Stan Wawrinka 3 135 Daniil Medvedev 1 12 Alexander Zverev 1 14 Marin Cilic 1 21 Dominic Thiem 1 99 Not too many options since Nadal, Djokovic and the now retired Federer won so many Grand Slams and most will probably qualify via rankings anyway. Murray is pretty safe should he drop in ranking and wants to go for a third Olympic gold. If he doesn't retire, I could see Wawrinka taking the quota. Thiem might be eligible, but he's been on the record at not caring about the Olympics. Women Athlete GS/Olympic Wins World Ranking Venus Williams 8 659 Naomi Osaka 4 65 Iga Swiatek 3 1 Angelique Kerber 3 106 Petra Kvitova 2 13 Simona Halep 2 15 Victoria Azarenka 2 16 Garbine Muguruza 2 82 Svetlana Kuznetsova 2 1292 Aryna Sabalenka 1 2 Belinda Bencic 1 9 Elena Rybakina 1 10 Jelena Ostapenko 1 12 Barbora Krejcikova 1 30 Sloane Stephens 1 39 Bianca Andresscu 1 42 Emma Raducanu 1 77 Sofia Kenin 1 207 I sometimes forget that Venus Williams has not yet retired. Regardless even if she breaks into the top 400 she won't compete at the Olympics due to the United States quite likely already qualifying four women. The same can be said for Russia (should they compete), Czechia and Spain. Given Osaka's decision on taking mental breaks she may still compete at the Olympics even if she decides to take an extended break. Kerber is currently taking a pregnancy leave, but is in a good position to take the quota if her comeback is a bit slow. I wouldn't be surprised if Raducanu ended up taking the quota when all is said and done.2 points -

For now I am only planning to attend on Aug 20 as I don't live in Budapest currently, so I only bought tickets to those two sessions. I might change my mind later, but I didn't want to buy tickets to other sessions in advance. I am guessing that there will be tickets available anyway even during the summer if I change my mind. Well, @rafalgorka, the truth is that I am not that much of a drinks and foods person, in a sense that I never searched for the best places when I lived in Budapest as a uni student. But I did visit all the movie theaters there because that's where my priorities lie. Anyway, you should visit Kopaszi gát, it's literally next to the athletics stadium on the other side of the Danube: Google Maps It's a really nice place to take a walk. You should also be able to take picture of the stadium and the Danube there.1 point -
If LA 1984 Olympics were not boycotted, what would have been the results?

this is what I could find about it... Wrestling Greco-Roman - Men's 52kg: URS / BUL / JPN (but ROU was a better wrestler in the years immediately before and after, despite losing to JPN in the early stages in LA). Wrestling Greco-Roman - Men's 74kg: this is really a mess... there are at least 2 legitimate people who were better than the rest in that period, URS & SWE; then, FIN, POL, BUL and ROU have exchanged places on the podium in the main tournaments of those years. so, we can reasonably say URS / SWE and then you can flip the coin for bronze. all this, despite the actual medals of the 2 events at the center of our poll. Wrestling Greco-Roman - Men's +100kg: you can go with the FR Games podium here: BUL / CUB / URS (even if URS was definitely better than the Cuban in those years, who finished ahead of him most likely because of a favourable draw).1 point -

Rowing, men's Pair...this is one of the most difficult picks in the whole series, as it's the race where basically almost all the best rowers of all time competed at least once. after a great internal battle with myself, my memories and my bias, I came up with the decision that I just can't go with any other than Redgrave & Pinsent, despite all the (other) great men who give so much prestige to this boat. Rowing, men's Lightweight Double Sculls...ironically, this is one of the most successful events ever for Italian Rowing, but we never won gold because we've always found some great duos in front of us. and despite the Irish guys have been so impressive in the last few years, in this case my pick has to go with 2 real greats of the discipline, Kucharski & Sycz. Rowing, women's Lightweight Double Sculls...this is not so difficult as the 2 above...here there's a name that stands well above any other, Constanta Burcica, triple Olympic Champion in this race between 1996 and 2004. therefore my pick has to be Romania. Canoe Sprint, men's K2 500m...one of the events already relegated only to the history books because of the crazy/disputable/idiotic IOC/ICF administration of the last 15 years (at least). not to many memories about it, though...therefore I have to go with the long streak of Germany. Canoe Sprint, women's K2 500m...not so easy, as many great names of the sport had some glorious days on this boat. but if you have someone named Birgit Fischer, you just can't be denied a place on the Olympus. therefore, my pick is Germany once again.1 point

Na olimpijskim szlaku - Paryż 2024

Ciężko będzie kogoś w skokach do wody wrzucić.

We will take a train from Katowice. Now we are looking for a płace to stay at airbnb. we would like to go for full 9 days that would be my 4th time in Budapest. But first time since Imre Nagy monument has been sadly moved away from that square close to the parliament… anyway, i love this city and we have plans for these few days when there are no morning sessions at the stadium1 point -

Kelly Sildaru tore her ACL during a practice session at the X Games, so she’ll be off the World Cup circuit for a while. Eileen Gu also injured her knee on the very same day, but I’m haven’t seen any public news about the extent of her injury yet.1 point -

We'll probably get some next week.1 point -
