  1. Looks like the Cross-Country rankings will give quotas to the 10,000m. Also the marathon qualification has begun since Nov 1st, the following athletes have met the standard already (I'll only list a max of three athletes per nation, only applied to Ethiopia and Kenya). Unsurprisingly, a bunch of nations have qualified their first athletes Men's Marathon Kelvin Kiptum - 2:01:53 Gabriel Geay - 2:03:00 Alexander Munyao - 2:03:29 Tamirat Tola - 2:03:40 Kaan Ozbilen - 2:04:36 Deso Gelmisa - 2:04:56 Timothy Kiplagat - 2:05:20 Milkesa Mengesha - 2:05:29 Goitom Kifle - 2:06:09 Maru Teferi - 2:06:43 Isaac Mpofu - 2:06:48 Nicolas Navarro - 2:07:01 Zerei Mezngi - 2:07:10 Hiskel Tewelde - 2:07:11 Tariku Novales - 2:07:18 Brett Robinson - 2:07:31 Ayad Lamdassem - 2:07:39 Abdelaziz Merzougui - 2:08:00 Abdi Nageeye - Top 5 Platinum Race Reda El Aaraby - Top 5 Platinum Race Suguru Osako - Top 5 Platinum Race Women's Marathon Amane Shankule - 2:14:58 Letesenbet Gidey - 2:16:49 Shelia Chepkirui - 2:17:29 Tadu Teshome - 2:17:36 Fancy Chemutai - 2:18:11 Dolshi Tesfu - 2:20:40 Eunice Chumba - 2:20:41 Majida Maayouf - 2:21:01 Angela Tanui - 2:21:12 Sinead Diver - 2:21:34 Rebecca Cheptegei - 2:22:47 Lonah Salpeter - 2:23:30 Bojana Bjeljac - 2:23:39 Giovanna Epis - 2:23:53 Irvette van Zyl - 2:26:11 Marta Galimany - 2:26:14 Natasha Cockram - 2:26:14 Caroline Wikstrom - 2:26:14 Aliphine Tuliamuk - 2:26:18 Gladys Tejeda - 2:26:26 Georgina Schwiening - 2:26:28

  8. In Indonesia, the World Cup got around 74% of audience share. The company who got the rights here are bastards who thinks people don't watch terrestrial TV anymore and their agenda is to force everyone to watch from their shitty streaming site. During the last match day of group stage, only one match is shown on TV despite the group owns multiple TV channels in this country. They even monitored and enforced the rule for big cafes, bars, or any other places that had a public viewing to show the broadcast from their site. As I had said above, their site is shit and looks like the bandwidth was unable to handle the number of viewers during the final. So people were angry and posting their own experience watching from the site (sudden timeout, stuttering images, sudden logout from the app, crashing app, etc) If you read my post during the finals, you can see I was having issues too

  9. All - WOW! I was able to be at the Pursuits yesterday. The only way to relate the atmosphere in Le Grand Bornand is a football/soccer match. I was on the course, and when Julia Simon and Eric Perrot shot yesterday, it was like a rocket taking off it was so loud. Lots of fun to watch, even those near the end. I am not sure if you could tell, or if it even made it on the broadcast, but the last downhill, followed by the sharp left hand turn into the steep uphill right before the range was really icy. Lots of concentrated faces at that spot. I was there for the women. The men I was where the long climb makes the turn around. That is a really long climb, and for the Mass start even longer. Fun experience.

  15. the exact opposite of Italy... here all the people only want sport events being shown on terrestrial/satellite traditional TV channels... and actually, public places can't stream anything by law*, they have to subscribe to dedicated TV channels to show football matches and/or F1, MotoGP races *to be precise, they can't stream mainstream events which they charge any amount of additional money for watching... during regular opening without any extra charge for watching a specific event they can put whatever (legally available, of course) they want on their tv screens (if they have any).

  22. well, unfortunately Italy wasn't there also 4 years ago... the big difference is the season in which they played. In 2018, as always, the World Cup was played at the beginning of the Summer (when the schools normally close their activity). This year, instead, they played just before Christmas, with all the school and working activities running full time. moreover, 4 years ago there were more matches in our prime time in the group stage phase.

  31. Oggi ho dovuto lavorare, perciò ho seguito sostanzialmente solo quattro eventi sportivi invernali.

  33. As brazilians usually remember the bad moments more than the good, I would say that the 2004 marathon "attack" is by far the most remembered Olympic moment here (but, of course, also because Vanderlei recovered and won bronze + Pierre de Coubertin medal). So much that he was selected to lit the cauldron at the Rio Olympics. Again with the bad moments, Rodrigo Pessoa/Baloubet du Rouet elimination in the 2000 individual jumping is often most remembered than their successful achievements (team bronze in the same competition, and individual gold in 2004). It was a perfect portrait of the Sydney Olympics, where Brazil didn't win a single gold medal. This also made Baloubet the most famous horse in Brazil ever. For the Volleyball moments, my brazilian friends have shared some good ones (1992 men's gold, 1996 women's beach gold/silver) and a terrible one (2004 women's defeat in semifinals), but by far the most remembered I think is the 2012 women's QF match vs Russia. This is replayed every year on TV, and is much more talked than the gold medal match vs USA (which was also an amazing comeback). From the Rio Olympics, probably the most remembered is Thiago Braz gold in pole vault. Multiple memes emerged from that unexpected medal..
