  2. I know, seems like no time ago when we had the 10th edition special. Next year's contests marks a couple of milestones... TISC Annual 2023 will be the 20th edition and the TISC Open 2023 will mark 10 years since the very first edition..... makes me feel kinda old

  3. I was doing some research on which nations might be eligible for Tripartite invitation places for Paris 2024 should the same criteria be used this time round as previously. The tripartite eligibility criteria for Tokyo 2020 was such that invitation places would only be allocated to NOCs with an average of 8 or fewer athletes in individual sports / disciplines in the previous 2 editions of the Olympics (London and Rio). This means 92 NOCs in total were eligible for tripartite invitation quotas. So if we use the same criteria this time, a total of 94 NOCs would be eligible. Botswana, Kosovo and Pakistan would no longer be eligible in this Olympic cycle as they have gone above the average of 8 individual athletes at the previous 2 editions. On the otherhand, 5 nations that were ineligible last time would now be eligible in this Olympic cycle: Congo, Cook Islands, El Salvador, Iceland, Lebanon. Obviously this isn't anything official, I am just speculating based on previous criteria but it's fun to look at such things, right? NOCs that remain eligible for Tripartite Invitations for Paris 2024 * denotes that athletes from team sports were discounted from the total Nation 2016 Athletes 2020 Athletes Average Athletes Afghanistan 3 5 4 Albania 6 9 7.5 American Samoa 4 6 5 Andorra 5 2 3.5 Antigua and Barbuda 9 6 7.5 Aruba 7 3 5 Bangladesh 7 6 6.5 Belize 3 3 3 Benin 6 7 6.5 Bermuda 8 2 5 Bhutan 2 4 3 British Virgin Islands 4 3 3.5 Brunei Darussalam 3 2 2.5 Burkina Faso 5 7 6 Burundi 9 6 7.5 Cambodia 6 3 4.5 Cape Verde 5 6 5.5 Cayman Islands 5 5 5 Central African Republic 6 2 4 Chad 2 3 2.5 Comoros 4 3 3.5 Democratic Republic of the Congo 4 7 5.5 Djibouti 7 4 5.5 Dominica 2 2 2 Timor-Leste 3 3 3 Equatorial Guinea 2 3 2.5 Eswatini 2 4 3 Federated States of Micronesia 5 3 4 Gabon 6 5 5.5 Gambia 4 4 4 Grenada 7 6 6.5 Guam 5 5 5 Guinea 5 5 5 Guinea-Bissau 5 4 4.5 Guyana 6 7 6.5 Haiti 10 6 8 Honduras 7* 5* 6* Iraq 5* 3 4* Kiribati 3 3 3 Kuwait 0 10 5 Laos 6 4 5 Lesotho 8 2 5 Liberia 2 3 2.5 Libya 7 4 5.5 Liechtenstein 3 5 4 Madagascar 6 6 6 Malawi 5 5 5 Maldives 4 4 4 Mali 6 4 5 Malta 7 6 6.5 Marshall Islands 5 2 3.5 Mauritania 2 2 2 Monaco 3 6 4.5 Montenegro 7* 7* 7* Mozambique 6 10 8 Myanmar 7 2 4.5 Nauru 2 2 2 Nepal 7 5 6 Nicaragua 5 8 6.5 Niger 6 7 6.5 North Macedonia 6 8 7 Oman 4 5 4.5 Palau 5 3 4 Palestine 6 5 5.5 Papua New Guinea 8 8 8 Rwanda 7 5 6 Saint Kitts and Nevis 7 2 4.5 Saint Lucia 5 5 5 Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 4 3 3.5 Samoa 8 8 8 San Marino 4 5 4.5 Sao Tome and Principe 3 3 3 Seychelles 10 5 7.5 Sierra Leone 4 4 4 Solomon Islands 3 3 3 Somalia 2 2 2 South Sudan 3 2 2.5 Sri Lanka 9 9 9 Sudan 6 5 5.5 Suriname 6 3 4.5 Syria 7 6 6.5 Tanzania 7 3 5 Togo 5 4 4.5 Tonga 7 6 6.5 Tuvalu 1 2 1.5 US Virgin Islands 7 4 5.5 Vanuatu 4 3 3.5 Yemen 3 5 4 Zambia 7 8* 7.5* NOCs that are no longer eligible for Tripartite Invitations for Paris 2024 Botswana 12 13 12.5 Kosovo 8 11 9.5 Pakistan 7 10 8.5 NOCs that have become eligible for Tripartite Invitations for Paris 2024 Congo 10 3 6.5 Cook Islands 9 6 7.5 El Salvador 8 5 6.5 Iceland 8 4 6 Lebanon 9 6 7.5

  5. because of cultural issues... in the former Jugoslavija they always said that waterpolo isn't a woman's game (too physical and tough, according to them) and they never really tried to develop the woman's game... even the greatest coach ever, Ratko Rudic, used to say that women shouldn't play waterpolo...

  6. The Czech Republic's Jiri Liptak starred in a wonderful two days of Trap action at the European Championships (Shotgun) in Larnaca, Cyprus. With the top two in both the Men's and Women's Trap earning spots at Paris 2024, there was something extra motivating these athletes in addition to the potential of European glory. A total of one hundred athletes entered the qualification stage, although thirteen of these were not eligible to reach the final and in it for ranking points only. With five rounds of 25 targets each, the top eight would qualify. Tokyo 2020 champion Liptak lead with 123 hits, with Sweden's Rickard Levin-Andersson second with 122. Third would be decided by shootoff as Great Britain's Nathan Hales and Cyprus's Andreas Makri were tied for 121, while fifth would also be decided by shoot-off to decide between France's Clement Borgue, GB's Matthew John Coward-Holley, and Portugal's Armelim Felipe Rodrigues, who were all on 120 points. Most importantly, the eighth and final spot would also be decided by shoot-off, as Croatians Anton Glasnovic and Francesco Ravalico were tied on 119 points with Teemu Antero Ruutana of Finland and Erik Varga of Slovakia. The Czech Republic's Vladimir Stepan also got 119 points but was ineligible to make the final as a 'ranking points only' (RPO) athlete. Makri got the better of Hales in the shootoff to come third, while in the shoot-off for fifth Rodrigues with six got ahead of Coward-Holley with five and Borgue with none. Glasnovic hit three targets to beat out Ruutana on two and Ravalico and Varga on one to make the next round. Here, there would be two ranking matches of four athletes each, with the top two making the medal match. The first match was made up of Bourgue, Liptak, Makri, and Rodrigues; there would be twenty-five shots, although the athlete in last after fifteen would be eliminated. That happened to be Makri with ten, while it was a tight race in front: Liptak on fourteen, Rodrigues on thirteen, and Bourgue on twelve. But Bourgue missed his next three shots and could only post a total of nineteen, while Liptak (22) and Rodrigues (21) advanced to the final. In the other match, comprised of Coward-Holley, Glasnovic, Hales, and Levin-Andersson; after fifteen it was Glasnovic that was eliminated with eleven, with Hales in front with thirteen and both Coward-Holley and Levin-Andersson on twelve. But Levin-Andersson recovered, only missing one of his final ten shots to post a score of 21, tying with Hales, meaning Olympic bronze medallist Coward-Holley would not advance. In the medal match, there would be thirty-five shots, with last place eliminated after fifteen and again after twenty-five. After fifteen shots Rodrigues was eliminated with ten hits; both Levin-Andersson and Hales had twelve, but something special was in the works as Liptak had all fifteen. With the Czech seemingly uncatchable, the next ten shots would be crucial to decide who got the Paris spot. Both of them hit their next five perfectly, but both missed one shot. Tied for 21 points, they were separated by their score in the Ranking Match. However, as this was also equal, this meant they were separated by their score in the qualification match, and Levin-Andersson survived: a true reflection that every shot matters. But the Swede would have to settle for silver: while he was battling with Hales, Liptak had extended his perfect run: with five shots to go the Czech led 30-25. That meant he just needed to get the next shot to guarantee it and he did, a "golden hit" stopping the contest early and winning gold with a perfect 31 out of 31 in the final. The quotas then went to the Czech Republic and Sweden. On the women's side, it was a somewhat less crowded field, with forty-five athletes, three of whom were RPO. Italy's Silvana Stanco got 119 hits in qualifying, with Portugal's Maria Ines Coelho de Barros and Italy's Giulia Grassia tied for 118. France's Carole Cormenier, Lucy Charlotte Hall of Great Britain, and Jessica Rossi of Italy were tied for fourth with 117 points, while two Spaniards: Fatima Galvez and Mar Molne Magrina were tied for seventh with 116. Grassia hit six targets in the shootoff ahead of Coelho de Barros with five to confirm an Italian 1-2, while Hall won her shoot-off for fourth with three targets ahead of Cormenier on two and Rossi on one. Galvez hit one target to beat Molne Magrina on none. This meant that both European medallists in Tokyo 2020: champion Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova of Slovakia (10th, 114) and bronze medallist Alessandra Perilli of San Marino (24th, 110) were casualties of the qualification stage. The first ranking match was made up of Coelho de Barros, Cormenier, Galvez, and Stanco. After fifteen it was the French athlete who was eliminated, missing four of her first five shots and registering a total of nine. At this stage, Stanco was way in front with a perfect fifteen, with both Coelho de Barros and Galvez on eleven. But Coelho de Barros missed three of her next four and then her last three to register only fifteen in total, with Galvez coming second with twenty, safely behind Stanco who managed an impressive twenty-four. In the other ranking match, composed of Grassia, Hall, Molne Magrina and Rossi, Grassia was eliminated early with just nine of her first fifteen, while Molne Magrina was off in front with thirteen, just ahead of Hall and Rossi on twelve. However, the Spaniard faltered, hitting just four of the final ten shots to register a total of seventeen, with Rossi on twenty and Hall on nineteen qualifying. Into the medal match then, and the quality was evident from the start. Galvez was eliminated after fifteen due to only hitting ten: Hall lead on fourteen with the Italians on thirteen each. But Rossi missed three of her next five and could only recover to twenty, with Hall on 21 and Stanco on 22. Hall hit the next ten perfectly to end on 31 and put the pressure on Stanco... but the Italian held her nerve to do the same and pip the Brit into second with 32. This meant that the women's quotas went to Italy and Great Britain. So the first qualifiers for shooting have been decided: on the men's side, the Czech Republic and Sweden, and on the women's side, Italy and Great Britain. On 8 September, qualifying for the Men's and Women's Skeet will begin, the other events with Olympic quotas to be decided in Larnaca. The next chance for European (and indeed any) trap shooters will be at the 2022 World Championship (Shotgun) in Osijek, Croatia, which starts next month. Patrick Green Writer, Totallympics News

  7. Czech your passports people....TISC Open 2022 is coming!! It is my great pleasure to formally announce Czech Republic as the host of TISC Open 2022! . Congratulations @Hipooo on your new role as TISC host. It is the 19th edition of the Totallympics International Song Contest and the first to be hosted in the Czech Republic, following in the footsteps of their neighbours Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. Thank you for taking up the mantle of TISC host and best of luck with the organisation, we are all behind you! Hopefully you will be able to draw in some of your fellow Czech users to the contest for their home edition No definite plans are in place as of yet as to a schedule but it seems like the Grand Final could take place in the first weekend in November. But that is just a provisional date. This means we will be looking at opening up the TISC thread in mid to late September. We will be following the general plan of having 2 weeks for registrations/song selections, 2 weeks for voting and 2 weeks of preparation time for organisers to prepare the templates for the Grand Final. As always, that is just a general guide and if more time is needed by the host to prepare and organise then that is fine. One change I am thinking of however is spawned from the most recent edition when concerns were raised around multi-member juries and some users from those nations not being given enough time to notice the thread and help select their nation's entry. So to help ease that concern a little we will open the thread 1 week early and keep it closed to song selections, but allow people to register their interest to say they want to take part. We also introduced a rule after the last edition to help instruct users who are likely to be part of a multi-member jury to work with their fellow jury members before posting an entry too early: See you all soon in Czech Republic for TISC #19

  8. Unfortunately I don’t have the results of that contest anymore since the old forum got wiped. I know the top 8 were: 1. Waterloo 2. Nocturne 3. Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu (Volare). 4. Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi 5. Fairytale 6. Hold Me Now 7. The Voice 8. Euphoria I can’t remember the rest though. There were 25 finalists and a few non-winners were in the final. Modern winners and entries did not do well except Fairytale and also Euphoria which had just won the contest that year.

  9. Yes, and the thread for that contest opened September 21st, 2012 so it's almost 10 years since then. Here is a piece I wrote for to celebrate the 10th edition which talks a bit about the roots of the contest if you want to remember

  10. It was: the last world league Top 2 (what are they going to do with it this year? I don't know) qualify, then 4 from this year's wch, then 3 more from the ECh So a top 6 here is surely enough given that at least HUN, NED, ITA are qualified, but a 7th place should be enough too.

  18. Swimming, women's 400m Freestyle...with Camille Muffat in my heart, with Ledecky being the monster she is...my pick however is Shane Gould, the woman that opened the way for the modern female swimming. Rowing, men's Four...Steven Redgrave makes automatically Great Britain my pick. Track Cycling, women's Keirin...very young event that has never been won by the best sprinter nor true discipline's specialist in the field so far...I think no one of these girls deserve to be considered among the greatest ever of the sport, therefore I pass on this event. Shooting, men's Air Rifle...no brainer, my pick is Niccolò Campriani, the best rifle shooter ever, one of the only 2 men in the history of the world cup to win at least 1 competition in each of the 3 rifle disciplines, the only man in history to make the Olympic final in all the 3 rifle discipline (and he did it twice in the same Olympics, winning 3 gold and 1 silver overall). Taekwondo, women's Flyweights...another no brainer, Wu Jingyu is definitely the best fighter in the (recent) history of this class and therefore she's my obvious pick.

In Tournament A is basically qualified already for div I in 2023 and is for div II, however in the last matchday the two giants & will decide who plays in div II and who goes to div III next year. Since they tied the game between them 2-2 it will decided on GD against the two other teams. For reference, already lost 0-9 to , while lost 0-15 to ....

  29. This Championship feels a bit empty without Russia. The Top5 teams of are so far ahead of the rest of Europe in women's water polo that having 12 teams seems a bit too much. I mean, Spain just won against Serbia by 29 goals.... Even the Quarter-finals will be boring with the exception of one match, the tournament essentially starts at the Semi-finals.

    Welcome to the club!

Hi,Thanks for inviting me to the club. I have been looking at totallympics for a while and chose to sign up today. I love watching any sports although my favourites are swimming and tennis. Whenever there is a multi sport event on I watch obsessively and I will sit in front of the TV from the very start to the end of the session. My favourite athlete is Adam Peaty and my favourite event to watch at the olympics is the 100m Breaststroke. Outside of swimming my favourite event is archery. I look forward to contributing to topics and keeping track of lots of different sports in this club.
