Yeah, the finish was very exciting. The first 3 women finished within 1 second from each other after 10k. My meeting at work was about to start at 10:00 and meetings with Dutch and German colleagues always start right on time., but I saw how tight the race was and the finish was at 10:03 or something like that, so I made ten people in the meeting wait for me with some stupid excuse, just so I could watch the finish.4 points

Finally the WC break for Sharon van Rouwendaal. As per usual, salvaging what little is left in the marathon tournament. Happy to see her on top form on the Olympic distance again. She was a bit helped by Cunha and Beck battling it out together, but that's what can happen in a three-way race to the finish.2 points -

Some nice stats, after 31 events San Marino have more gold than Spain, France and Portugal combined2 points -
Just because I wanted to look it up, our semi-finals since 2005: 2006 ECh - lost 2007 WCh - lost 2008 ECh - lost 2008 SOG - lost 2012 ECh - lost 2012 SOG - lost 2013 WCh - lost 2014 ECh - lost 2016 ECh - won 2016 SOG - lost 2018 ECh - lost 2019 WCh - lost 2020 ECh - lost 2020 SOG - lost Yeah... for some reason we just can't go past Spain at the these big events. Thankfully they aren't in our way this time and the US is also in the other half of the bracket, which is why this is a big opportunity for us. The Dutch also beat us in SFs before but at least it's not Spain this time.2 points

yes, the reigning Olympic Champions always have the golden bib in all the IJF-sanctioned tournaments (and the reigning world champions always have the red bib on their shoulders)... I don't remember if they started this "tradition" after London or Rio?1 point -

Slovakia will send only 5 athletes (4 in Race Walking) and 1 in Track and Field. The smallest delegation ever Sadly all our "A" team members are returning from injuries, Ján Volko, Emma Zapletalová, Martina Hrašnová, Gabriela Gajanová, Stanislava Škvarková (all declined their spots for the WCh and are entirely now focusing only for the Europeans) + Marcel Lomnický, Tomáš Veszelka and Michal Morvay are still injured and will not compete this year probably anymore. The rising star Viktoria Foster is still a bit behind the required qualifying level in both her events 100 & 100 Hurdles. But whole our team is focusing on the European Championships where it looks we will send a more than 20 atletes which will be the biggest delegation ever So for the worlds just a cosmetic participation with 5 Athletes Miroslav Úradník, Dominik Černý, Hana Burzalová and Ema Hačundová in Race Walking and Daniela Ledecká in W 400m Hurdles1 point -

To be frank, it seems to me the quality of pretty much everything sports related has gone noticeably downhill after COVID came. From result systems to live streams.1 point

Ah yes, I completely forgot about her But to be fair she never played for Slovakia at senior level I do believe, I remember reading before the European Games in Baku some article about here, mentioned as a future "super talent" in slovak scene obviously, but I guess she just made the logical and best possible move for her personally to cross the border and represent Hungary1 point

We are the first team through to the SFs It's our 5th time making the World Championships SFs, but we've never made the final. There is a first time for everything1 point

Well we somehow got the win against France and we are in the final!!this might be the biggest achievement we made in football in the last 50+ years, just hope they will bounce up to stronger leagues in Europe in the near future, for them to really develop their skills and us1 point

San Marino has the wrestling final to come and also some secured boccia medals already. Arguably they are the best sports nation in the World.1 point

Alize Cornet claims there was a COVID-19 spread during Roland Garros but everyone accepted it and moved on. Sounds fair. World has moved on from COVID-19 already. https://www.leparisien.fr/sports/tennis/tennis-il-y-a-eu-une-epidemie-de-covid-a-roland-garros-et-personne-nen-a-parle-lance-alize-cornet-28-06-2022-D5ORFM2NHFHW3F7FNLQ46UAHNQ.php1 point -

Expected, but still unbelievable. Oh well, backwards courts making their country going backwards, what else is new. Next step is making sexual education illegal, because they obviously don't want people to be somewhat safe, and since the obvious goal is more misery all around, that'd be a logical next step. It's interesting how they do whatever they can before someone is born, but once a child goes to school, authorities are happy to let them serve as shooting targets.1 point -
