  1. Popovici is a generational talent. Now is the 4th fastest ever after Biedermann, Phelps and Agnel. Hope he can challenge the WR in a few years. And I wouldn't be surprised if he beats Dressel in the 100 free here tbh. Talking about generational talents, Ledecky swam the 6th fastest 1500 free ever to win her 17th gold medal and 13th individual, 2 away from the record of Phelps. The craziest part for me was that she swam the first 800 in 8.13.06, fastest than any other woman ever... In the 800 free And Thomas Ceccon WR in the 100 BK!

  2. Mental health is so important. Not everyone can handle being thrust into the limelight, especially now with social media where a lot of these athletes are only a click away from being directly contacted. It is always so sad when the media/public effectively destroy someone's sporting career because they couldn't live up to the high standards.

  6. Apostolos Christou with a CR of 52.09 (previously 52.26) in the men's 100 backstroke semifinals Obviously broke his own NR as well (previously 52.77) Really hoping he can win a medal here, although last year at the Euros he only won bronze with 52.97 after swimming 52.77 in the semifinals (which would've been enough for gold in the final...)

  8. I search the problem for the rowing problem with the video Double Sculls, Fours, Eights, Single Sculls who appear twice. I found the problem, the IOC write a wrong description for the 3rd session of rowing (25 july). Instead, they put the description of rowing 28 July. You can find here the link for the rowing session of 25 july. I check, the video is good but the description is wrong, it's not a video problem but a description problem. https://olympics.com/en/video/double-sculls-fours-eights-single-sculls-rowing-tokyo-2020-replays-x9682

  10. Meilutytė was retired, she started swimming again this winter, she participated in two 25m course local competitions, Lithuanian 50m course championships and one swimming meet in Stockholm. These World Championships are only her 5th appearance in a swimming competition since coming back.

    LETO 2022.

Мислим да нам реално није потребно превише појединачних тема. Али видећемо како други мисле да је најбоље, мени је свеједно.

  12. Can't put into words how absolutely insane and unprecedented this comeback is. She told everyone to not expect anything of her and that she is only swimming for herself now. She is not pushing herself too hard for results and she's only been training for half a year after a three year hiatus. She is no longer dealing with the bullshit of journalists that were one of the primary reasons she fell into depression and decided not to pursue professional sports. And now she is back, with a bronze medal at the World Championships, only 0.09s away from the gold. We don't know how long we'll have her, she might even say that she quits swimming again tomorrow, but as long as she's in the sport, I'm going to continue to support her, because she is capable of so many great things and is an absolute fighter. I'm hoping she'll go for Paris OG, but I definitely understand if she decides not to. I'm just happy that she gave us the comeback that many of us Lithuanian fans were secretly hoping for, especially when the rumours started flying that she's swimming in Kaunas again. What a star.

  13. Always nice to see other nations win from our region because it happens so rarely at the WCh and the Olympics. Popovici is so young, I very much hope he can keep this up for at least two more years and win that Olympic gold.

  20. Athletics – Qualification system not out yet but perhaps it will be similar to 2020 with qualifying marks and ranking. Expecting 25-30 athletes to qualify Archery – Team qualification changed from 2020. Now team quotas available via World Championships (3), Final Qualification Tournament (3), one each from Europe, Asia and Americas, 2 from Rankings. Pessimistic on team qualification but individual qualification should be a cakewalk Badminton – Same as 2020. My expectations are Lakshya Sen and Kidambi in Men’s Singles, PV Sindhu in Women’s Singles, Satwik-Chirag in Men’s Doubles, Gayatri-Treesa in Women’s Doubles if they can reach top 25. No one expected in Mixed Doubles Boxing – One weight class reduced to 7 among men and increase of one weight class to 6 among women. Reduction to overall quotas by 38. Minimum 10 quotas should qualify Track Cycling – Qualification system not out yet, but hopeful for Esow Alben to qualify if he can maintain top 30 either in Sprint or Keirin Equestrian Eventing – Top 2 individuals from Group G zone (South and South east Asia, Oceania) those who didn’t qualify in team. Fouaad Mirza should qualify, not sure how good riders in Dressage and Jumping Fencing – Same as 2020. Top 2 individuals from Asia to qualify via ranking those not qualified in team, one to qualify via qualifying tournament. Bhavani Devi to qualify if she can be consistent. Dark horse could be young Taniksha Khatri in epee. She is just 18 and finished in 12th in recent Asian Championships Hockey – 5 Continental Champions plus 6 to qualify via Qualifying Tournaments. Both men’s and women’s teams should qualify Golf – Same as 2020. Two each from men and women should qualify Judo – One quota reduction in each weight class. One judoka should qualify via Continental quota Rowing - One boat should qualify via Continental quota Sailing – 20 quotas reduction and change in events. The same of sailors who qualified in 2020 should qualify in 2024 again. Even if no sailor qualifies, India can qualify via the ‘Emerging Nations’ quota Shooting – Significant change from 2020 where quotas no longer available in World Cups but in World Championships and Continental Championships. Another change is that only quota can be available per tournament per event. India can earn quotas in World Championships, 2 Asian tournaments, and one Olympic qualification tournament. My estimation is that 14-18 quotas Table Tennis – Qualification system not out yet. Two male paddlers and Manika Batra should qualify. One more female paddler can qualify. Hopefully the federation mess clears out quickly. Hopefully team qualification can also occur Tennis – Similar to 2020, but not sure if any player shall qualify Weightlifting – Reduction in 76 quotas, with only 5 quotas per gender down from 7 each in 2020. There’s no change in Mirabai Chanu’s weight class 49kg. Jeremy Lalrinnunga’s weight class 67kg is no longer available and he either has to move to 61kg or 73kg. Wrestling – No major change in qualification process. Minimum 7 wrestlers should qualify

  22. FINA is normally one of the world’s most hopeless governing bodies, but they’ve done the right thing here. Other sports should take note. Fina, swimming's world governing body, has voted to stop transgender athletes from competing in women's elite races if they have gone through any part of the process of male puberty. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/swimming/61853450

  24. Only 4th swimmer after Ledecky, Titmus and Pellegrini to break the 4 minute at only 15yo. Crazy. This was the last gold for Ledecky in the 400 on a major meet. Titmus and McIntosh gonna dominate this race in the next years.

  30. Wtf Only 2 tickets for European countries in the women's football tournament? With 6 of the top 8 teams in the current World Ranking and at least 3 of them missing the Games, the women's Olympic football tournament can not be taken seriously.

  32. So Anna Ntountounaki was 9th, missing out on the final by 0.02. At the Tokyo Olympics she was also 9th, missing out on the final by 0.06. She was so close to making the final both times, I really hope she can make it at the next Worlds
