  4. is almost guaranteed to win the round robin at the final qualification tournament, and to qualify directly for the Olympics. All they need is to win one of their remaining two matches or to have lose one of it's three remaining matches.

One compromise solution could be that a quota is only transferable if a) the maximum number of athletes has not been reached after original allocation b) the athlete fulfilling the quota has met the qualification standard. I do agree with the principle that with the scarcity of available quotas, quotas should be allocated to specific athletes, not NOCs.

  6. I agree with that conclusion. So that means Mirlene Picin would not be eligible for the Sprint? What would happen if Picin has a better FIS points average, but only Bruna can start in two events?

  8. Van der Poel will start in both distances and that's fine. However, if another athlete who qualified in both 5/10k for example decides to start only in the 5k, then the qualification system allows the 10k starting place to be assigned to another athlete from the same nation, even if that other athlete was nowhere near qualifying by himself. That is my issue with the qualification system.

  9. I think it a very long and complicated process to determine the head-counts of each NOC but it's not definitely to be a cruel quotas cut as it seems. For example, Van De Poel earned two quotas on 5000m and 10000m for but they will just send one person and Huang Yu-ting earned 3 quotas on 500/1000/1500m for , also very likely just sent herself alone. So I think all depends and we have to wait trials results.

"and we see Burkina Faso with 6 athletes, here is the French delegation passing under the xyz bridge, what a great team it will be for the host country, now Burundi with a couple of athletes, and we see the french team waving to the passionate audience, what a lovely images and now this is, Cameroon...wait we should have had Cambodia first...however...does not matter anyway, look at the French team so happy to be here on the Seine waving to the public..."

That should not be too much of an issue on the women's side as 77 different skaters won a quota for their NOC. On the men's side however, I expect that the quota of 83 is too little. I'm curious to see what will happen in that situation. According to the rules, it could lead to a reduction of event quota on the 500m, 1.000m and 1.500m. @Benolympique

  18. An incredibly fortunate (for Hamilton) red flag right after he made a mistake which would have taken him out of any significant points contention. Due to the red flag, he got basically a free fresh start with an all fixed car and could cruise to 2nd. Not unlike Silverstone, where he sent Verstappen straight into the barriers with a way too enthousiastic move, damaged his front wing in the process...but could have the whole thing fixed due to the red flag. It truly has been a season where Hamilton got lucky every single time. Now, for once, it didn't fall his way, and (English) social media is full with stuff about how Hamilton was robbed....like all those people watched literally one race and nothing else this year

  22. that's pretty normal for our coach they always do this for almost everybody. having a low 1st attempt and then jump as much as possible for the next attempts. this time the jump was bigger Dehdar had lifted 219kg before so it wasn't completely out of his reach but not today. we have a very weak team here in general. I was only expecting one medal at 102kg. (81kg medal was quite surprising) our top weightlifters (Moradi and Rostami) are boycotting the national team and Olympic silver medalist Davoudi decided to take a break.
