  3. the team title was decided by the very last match of the competition and the great Sadulaev once again won the title for Russia (or whatever else they are being called this year) this guy is the best wrestler I ever seen I believe in 5 or 6 years he will become the most accomplished wrestler of all time. Poland also won its first ever World Championships gold in men's freestyle wrestling. even though Gadzhiev is Russian but still.

  8. Wow, that post ended a lot less bad than I expected it when reading the first words Good thing Solden is weeks before the season 'really' kicks off, plenty of time to recover...hopefully she'll be fit on time to enter the season full-force at least before February!

  11. Same thing happened after London 2012 where the 3-rider 3000m TP went to a 4-rider 4000m format. Took a few years for everyone to get teams together. It’s harder to find or finance track sprinters because there is less chance of a track/road overlap.

  12. One of many ... France didn't field any TS in major championships recently, and it's not going to change. Because even if you do find a third sprinter, the level drop is way too important. Since Tokyo was held in 2021, there is not much time left to adapt for Paris 2024, and the format requires strong adaptations. The "finisher" has to cover 750m when the longest distance a female sprinter can run is 500m (there is no such thing as a +2 laps full sprint in the individual events), so for this particular role you will need a resistant sprinter. Then the 2-riders format force the team to make a choice between a strong TS and strong individuals, in Tokyo China chose to have the first, Germany the second. In order to field both Friedrich and Hinze, Germany had to make one of them a starter, who could be better elsewhere. On the men's side the first one is now nearly systematically a specialist, could be the same for women ... or we'll have a 3-laps specialist to anchor. Yesterday for Russia Tyschenko was clearly better than Shmeleva in this position.

  13. Gadzhiev is from Dagestan. Poland has traditionally been much stronger in Greco-Roman wrestling than freestyle. Obviously he was a medal contender but gold is still a surprise!

  15. No just like last month's U23 Euros, and also no either. Greece with 16 athletes, 7 boats. Some surprises with athletes who made A Finals at the World Juniors this year not being selected. Interesting to see 17 yo Eleni Leventelli finally competing in her age group, after competing at the U23 level two years in a row. She will be in the women's single sculls, after winning bronze in the women's lightweight single sculls at the European U23s last month (just over one second away from gold). I think she'll make the A Final and hopefully she can sneak a bronze but it will be tricky. The Swiss girl has been on fire this year. Leventelli will have another chance next year also. Fragkou/Natsioula won bronze last year here and honestly they should be the favourites for gold in the women's double. Fragkou won three medals in three regattas this year, all with different crews, so this should be her fourth medal of the year. Our women's four only has two of the same girls from last year's silver medal team. Not sure what to expect because with three of the same girls from last year they only got 6th at this year's World Juniors. Still, there are only five crews here in this event so a good chance to win a medal regardless No idea what to expect in the men's pair as we are sending new faces, and Iasonas Exarchou in the men's single sculls probably has a chance to win a medal (he was 9th at the World Juniors but silver at the European U23s in the men's double). Our men's four got 5th at the World Juniors and we have the same team here and with the gold medalists not competing we have a decent chance at bronze or something (we were only 0.09 seconds behind 4th place there). I also think we can have a chance in the men's double but there is so much depth in that event with 17 boats, it will be tough and hard to predict with inexperienced rowers. Generally the men's events are tougher to predict (at least from a Greek POV) because we have more new rowers, whereas most of the women already competed in several big regattas so we know their potential.

  16. Most probably two parties will reach a last-minute compromise. They are still bluffing and made default a bargaining chip. Well everything could be bargaining chip in a two-party system democracy.

  17. Credit: All eyes on Brisbane, but NRL grand final still just a dress rehearsal - 2Oct21 - Brisbane Times Brisbane Organising Committee for the Olympic Games: this month Premier Anasatcia Ms Palaszczuk will introduce legislation in State Parliament to set up BOCOG. In just over decade from now, Brisbane will host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games “Not since Barcelona in 1992 has an Olympic host been better able to capitalise on hosting a Games,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk reminded everyone in her State of the State address on Thursday. The multibillion-dollar City Deal between all levels of government needs to be sorted out. All projects supporting the Games need to be identified, chosen, designed, approved, re-examined, tendered, built and tested. Decisions on the Gabba upgrade need to made, along with the fast rail proposal after a lukewarm reception so far. Brisbane City Council: Its Brisbane Metro megabus project might link to Brisbane Airport with its new international terminal by the time the Olympics roll around. The Queensland government’s underground Cross River Rail project will better link the coasts and provide improved links to Brisbane sports and entertainment venues, although how much remains a matter of contention. Transport Minister Mark Bailey said, in the first instance, it would make catching buses and trains to Olympic venues easier “Commuters catching the train will be able to get from the CBD to the main Olympics stadium at the Gabba in less than five minutes, or get out of the Roma Street underground and head to the Brisbane Olympics venue that will be built in that precinct for the Games,” Mr Bailey said.

  21. This is really sad. Iran could have walked away with more than one medal. I'd say Iran could even have had a world champion or two! Not so easy on pommel horse, but possible. Now, on rings this was definitely possible. One of the Iranian gymnasts scores 14.8 on this apparatus and this could be enough for the world title this year. What a shame.

  26. He's simply a hypocrite. That's all. Obviously Democrats don't mind shipping immigrans back where they came from since they are in power so it doesn't matter they're doing the same what Trump did Another example that two-party system is a complete dumpster fire because both parties are doing exactly the same thing and there's no way to remove them from power any which way.

  27. Oof! I've always wondered why the Indian fans here are so upset about the CWG. I'd be ashamed if Brazil took part in an event where everyone accepts the queen of another country as their ruler. It's even more shameful when Indians are accusing their former colonizers of being unfair to them.

Archery wasn't removed from the 2022 Games as it wasn't in the 2014 or 2018 programmes either. It's an optional sport and so far has only been included in 1982 and 2010.
