  1. Should limit it to 8 teams max, and perhaps of the placements being added, the scores maybe? Either way when you do a team event for an individual sport, it will always lead to the predictable result.

  2. Still not a fan of the team event even with Georgia on board. The outcome is too predictable and the competition system is nuts. Basically game over after the short program.

  3. Sakkari beat Swiatek and Kontaveit beat Kvitova so Sakkari will be Top 10 on Monday. As for Raducanu's new coach, Darren Cahill split with Simona Halep few days ago. I wouldn't be surprised to see these two hook up next.

  4. Women singles qualifiers: Alternates: Full qualification for women’s singles: 3 quotas: 2 quotas: 1 quota:

  5. Only 10 nations have enough quotas to be eligible for the team event, so we already know which are qualified regardless of rankings. Debuts for Georgia and Czech Republic (!). No France for the first time.

  6. Pleased for Finland. They missed out narrowly in the ice dance for previous few Olympics. This is their first couple since Rahkamo/Kokko. Also very happy for the Armenian couple.

  7. becomes the 32nd and last nation to qualify for the figure skating events. Same as in Pyeongchang, with 4 less quotas.

  8. Meanwhile former RG junior champion Whitney Osuigwe lost her 17th match in a row (Chicago Q1). She's three losses away from tying the WTA Open Era record (Channelle Scheepers in 2003/04 & Abigail Spears 2005/06 both lost 20 matches in a row). Osuigwe was basically on par with Cori Gauff in the summer of 2019 and she's completely fallen off since the COVID break.

  9. @Monzanator Yes, I am just happy she made it to her third WTA final, hopefully she wins her second title. She lost many semifinals since winning Rabat 2019. From memory she lost in the semifinals of Rome 2019, San Jose 2019, Saint Petersburg 2020, Ostrava 2020, Abu Dhabi 2021, Melbourne 2021, Miami 2021, Roland Garros 2021 and US Open 2021. I might be forgetting one or two more. So yeah it seemed like she always lost semifinals so I am happy she finally won one. Sorry for Iga but she will also move to a new career-high. I always loved tennis but never imagined to have a Greek player in the top 10 for both ATP and WTA at the same time. It seemed like a wild dream. Some years ago I hoped for players in the top 100 of both and even that seemed unrealistic. Good things happen to those who wait I guess

  10. @MakedonasYes, reaching the deep end of these Premier/500/1000/GS events is worth more than winning three-four Internantional/250 events. Obviously the lack of tournament wins is a problem but Eugenie Bouchard reached Top 5 while only winning Nuernberg Internantional event which remains her only WTA trophy.

  12. British team tactics also rubbish. Worked mid-race, did all the chasing down late race, were exhausted for the last 2km.

  13. Great victory for Balsamo I can say, without any doubt, that this is our year in sport

  16. Sakkari now guaranteed to go up to at least number 11 on Monday. Soon I think Greece and Spain will be the only countries to have players in both the men's and women's top 10!

  17. Vos with silver behind an Italian for the 12668th time Too bad, Vos is basically the only rider in this Dutch team I'd have liked to see win after this umpteenth fiasco Whatever happened, Vos is basically the only one in the team not to blame for her not winning, oddly enough.
