  12. I really like this ESPlayer. Being able to watch any event I want is the most important. Then the lack of commentators is not really a problem for me. Most of them are talking stupid things all the time anyway . Watching live sport with ambient sound is the best way to do it for me.

  14. I've never seen her as the greatest of all time. When she goes to an edition of the Olympic Games and wins 6 medals -- all of the possible medals in women's competition -- like Silivas did in 1988, then she can say she's the greatest of all time. Will she manage to do it here? Let's see. She's undeniably a very strong and talented gymnast. She has won countless world titles. She has pushed the difficulty way, way up, beyond what anyone could expect for now. But the greatest of all time? That's debatable. This is mostly US media trying hard to make the rest of the world believe their athletes are the best. However, I'm worried about her mental health. The pressure on her shoulders is monumental and this is not a sport where gymnasts should compete when they feel unsafe or unsure about themselves. She did the right thing withdrawing from team finals because she needs to keep safe above everything else. And she knows that nothing will change what she has achieved so far.

  35. I expect that plenty of people here who don't come from countries with ocean coastline beaches and an accompanying surfing culture ( that includes all but about 4 European countries ) don't approve of surfing being on the programme But I'm sure they have no problem with snow sports especially mountain snow sports being Olympic events and don't give a thought to those from countries which don't have the climate and terrain for these sports Just an observation

  38. Definitely! I think it's 6 rowing finals tonight and there's a Dutch boat in all of them. Van der Breggen and Van Vleuten are both medal contenders in the time trial. And I believe tomorrow is our biggest chance at a Judo medal as well with Noel van 't End on the men's side and Sanne van Dijke on the women's side. We cannot end tomorrow without an additional medal!

  40. Super messy Olympics for the Dutch so far, even if many of our medal chances are yet to come. A continuous stream of incidents in cycling: the women's road race, Van der Poels plank (or the lack thereof) and incidents with race staff for Kimmann and Van der Breggen. Too many covid cases, extra measures for our rowing team with all its medal candidates. And lastly we've had a bunch of really close 4th places, which always feels painful.

  46. I forgot to comment here yesterday that out of all the sports so far, this is the one where the lack of the audience made the biggest impact for me. At least in most sports there's enough atmosphere to sell the big moments. Here there isn't anything supplementing the audience reactions during the routines, the silence is terrible.
