  2. it will be like any other Karate event, direct elimination with repechage and top 4 in the ranking will be seeded (to not face each other early) but there will be no final and all 4 medalists (finalists + repechage winners) will compete again in a round robin competition. (and those who faced earlier have to fight again)

  7. The Chef de Mission of Team Ireland was on radio this morning pointing out that the case levels in Japan are half what we have currently in Ireland yet we are opening up. She said the feedback they are getting from places where the Irish Team will have training camps in Japan is that there in are no issues with them hosting athletes etc. Its election year in Japan so people need to bear that in mind. That said the IOC need to be doing more to reassure the Japanese people that every precaution is being taken. A good start is that the IOC themselves need to ensure that there are no junckets etc and that the bare minimum of officials attend.

  8. Oh, I just saw this is a thread for women.. USA and France top two for sure, others I don't know, it's going to be tight.

  9. Wow, what a loss for Lithuania vs USA. Leading 20:16 having multiple opportunities to win and then losing the ball up 20:19 and giving up a two next possesion for the win. Really really bad job from LTU, choked.

I have uploaded everything I had from London, and that concludes all the Hungarian highlights from 1992 to 2012. It's mostly focused on Hungarians, but you can find other events as well, including many Swimming and Athletics finals: https://ok.ru/video/c4394078

  11. On the men's side probably Netherlands and Latvia are favorites, but they're in the same group. Outside of them USA, France, Qatar, Slovenia, maybe even Mongolia

  12. Watching this v match, I think it's safe to say that we won't have much a chance against either of these teams in the QFs (if we will qualify for the QFs). Both US and France look good for the quotas.

  14. football has a massive disadvantage with the women's European qualifier being the World Championships meaning that non-European nations play a major role.

  15. Please stop saying of Games cancellation. Its the only one thing which you can do here? Then your life must be really poor if you spread unsense articles and says about that Games should be cancelled everday. Please find an better thing which you can do with your life. @Sindo can you ban him already?

  16. Definitely not field hockey. 10/12 nations in both genders (although that doesn't have to do with qualification itself), but home teams had a major advantage in the FIH Olympic Qualifier.

  17. Sure. That's why aussies are contesting qualifying tournaments around the world. For example, just today the 3x3 OQT un Austria. It's only for cheating.

  18. Of course they will say this. The IOC will not be the one to pull the plug. It's all up to Tokyo. They lose money either way, but which one is more preferrable is for the argument.

  19. The rules aren't always very clear (other than it must be a tripartite eligible nation). In 2016 they gave Angola a quota in the laser despite already having one in men's 470. Bolivia also got two shooting tripartite quotas in 2016.

  20. Probably the ISAF picked the two highest ranked in each event? Would make sense... not sure if that is correct.

  24. Stop with this super-spreader fear mongering, they are acting as if the Olympics would happen normally without limitations and safety protocols. If the Japanese government wants to pull out, stop building up excuses through the media, do it now and pay the consequences.

  25. The issue isn't so much about the spread of COVID, even though a lot of people think that will be a big issue. Taking care of 10,000 athletes plus all the necessarily support staff and media and everyone else descending upon Tokyo in July requires a lot of people to make the operation run. Including medical personnel that their healthcare system might not so easily be able to spare. We've seen plenty of sports leagues and tournaments operate through the pandemic without using up resources that the general public needs. That might not be the case here, so that's where they are going to struggle with holding the Olympics. And why the Japanese public opposes it. Not because they think visitors will bring the virus into the country, but that the Olympics may be a priority over Japanese healthcare

  26. To be fair, the rankings originally had no barring on the qualification. The cancellation of the Pan America and World qualifiers caused this. Though the original reason as to why the World qualifiers were cancelled was because the European qualifiers were going to be delayed. In hindsight they should have cancelled the European qualifiers which haven't been completed and ran the World qualifiers. It would at least give athletes who were injured/pregnant in 2018/2019 a chance to qualify along with athletes who simply became better relative to what they were two years ago.

  27. I fear the table has it wrong. It think that the German lost the quota with the last shot. If she didn`t miss would have been in fourth place (winning the quota via olympic ranking).

  28. FIFA approved AFC's recommendation and removed all PRK's results results against 5th placed teams in each group won't be counted. I believe Iran is the biggest loser here by losing +14 GD. I somehow have a feeling AFC had that in mind when they "recommended" this to FIFA.
