  3. UCI has finally updated their qualification documents. Basically, the Olympic rankings for cross-country, BMX racing and BMX freestyle will include the next two World Cup events. If they don't occur, they will take the Olympic rankings on the June 7th update. Also the BMX racing World Championships quotas have been reallocated to the Olympic rankings

  5. btw technically it's not over yet, El Sawy still can punch the ref to the face and get disqualified (and receive 0 points) but I assume that's not a possibility I think El Sawy was guaranteed a place even if he wouldn't make it here, he was the best ranked African male athlete. but with this, he opened the door for another male Egyptian Karateka to qualify in another weight. but in the continent of America, they have another way to determine their continental places, only Pan American Games gold medal winners has a chance and unfortunately for Figueira he didn't win the gold in Peru back in 2019.

  7. if Egypt wins the gold he is 100% qualified. because Brazil can't win more than the bronze. but silver for Egypt and bronze for Brazil will qualify Brazil. silver for Egypt and 5th place for Brazil will qualify Egypt (most probably, have to do the calculation) but first let's see if they both can reach the semifinal or not.

  9. if you feel smart, just try to figure out how things work with ICF qualification system, you won't feel smart anymore I'm somehow glad we are not good in this sport and I don't have to go through all these weird things, Weightlifting was enough for me.

  10. I sometimes mess around with stats if an international federation doesn't provide visual aid in some form, like how I couldn't find anything on FIE's site that shows how the world ranking changed over time (like, event by event). So I made these because I wanted to see how much of a clusterfuck men's team epée was. How the world ranking of men's team epée changed since Rio for the 9 qualified teams: And the fight for the last few quotas between and where we ended up being the big losers of this Olympic cycle in this event.

  18. Italy lost by Hantei to Jordan so that's it Ali El-Sawy is 100% qualified for Tokyo, no matter what happens in the rest of the competition. even if he finishes 5th. Figueira has to prepare himself for the last chance qualifier in France, same as our guys in this weight
    1 point
  19. El Sawy is in the semifinal now. by my calculation if that Italy guy who beat Figueira makes it to the final. Figueira will have a chance in the repechage, but if Italy doesn't Egypt is already qualified.

  20. they will meet in the semifinal if they win the the rest of their matches, Brazil has something like 400pts advantage. so your guy can't afford losing early. he has to go all the way to the final and he just beat one of the Iranians in the table quite easily

  26. I went with swimming, but I do have to say there is maybe a bit too much swimming in the Olympics (amount of events/medals). Rowing is a close second. Both are sports that are really core to watching the Olympics to me.

  27. Fake news, Olympics will go ahead smoothly with arenas and stadiums filled with spectator. Pandemic will officially end next month.

  28. hypocrisy at its best, then... they still allow people to go to the local baseball games (even if only at 10 to 50% of seating capacity, depending on the city where they play) and they want to stop people from going to watch the Olympic events? mah... frankly, I'm a bit tired of all this "ideas" going against all the logics and everything they're doing right now in the world (and in Japan) with all the sports...
    1 point
  29. since I could only pick 1 sport, I went with Swimming, but to be honest, a multiple choice poll would have been more accurate, as I love also Rowing, Canoeing (especially the Slalom events) and Sailing (especially the windsurfing class)... on the other hand, I'm not a big fan of either Diving and Surf, even if I could enjoy the highest level of competition and the fight for the medals in both disciplines... meanwhile having Artistic Swimming under the category sport, it's just a farce, an insult to the true sports...that's just an entertaining (for some people, at least) artistic activity that has nothing to do with a competition and any objective judging criteria...it should be removed from the Olympics immediately...actually, it should have never been named an olympic discipline...

  33. Pretty surprised to not see Martin Stranovský in the start List for , did he lost internal qualifier to Tashtamyshev ? I seriously doubt about it, maybe it is some injury. All in all a 100% sure KAZ quota is just gone to the oblivion. will be a very hard job for to not win the quota now.. W C1 - China should win this as well with fingers in nose... the M C1 is a totally open one in other hand. I do not know very well the young Kazakhs, but it seems they are in the best position with China with biggest chances to deny them and maybe Uzbekistan with a long shot behind. W K1 looks like a farce. Only 4 Extremely weak competitors from 2 nations (Not sure if it even will be valid for qualifications). But I go with KAZ, even if the local girls may have some advantage of home water, their level is just atrocious, not saying the kazakh girls are any better, but at least one may not be worried the girl will kill herself during the race at least...

    Olympic Videos & Pictures

Well, my little experiment on YouTube is coming to an end. I was wondering how long it will take IOC to attack the YT channel where I upload stuff. It took them 10 days to remove most of the videos from Sydney. I won't upload there anymore, unless I do stuff like upload highlights, IOC doesn't take down edited footage. I will continue to upload full aired footage on the Ok channel up to London 2012. I think they also aired stuff from Rio, but I can't find those anywhere.
