Today we will go to Ciechocinek and local... Brine Graduation Towers The Ciechocinek graduation towers are a complex of three brine graduation towers, erected in the nineteenth century in Ciechocinek, in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. They constitute the largest wooden structure of this type in Europe. The complex of graduation towers and salt breweries, together with two surrounding parks, are designated as a Monument of History. The towers were designed by Jakub Graff, professor of the Mining Academy in Kielce, based on the brine sources discovered here back in the second half of the eighteenth century, although the local community extracted and brewed salt as early as in the thirteenth century under the permissions given by Konrad I Mazowiecki. The 648-metre-long (2,126 ft) graduation tower I, with a capacity of 5,000–5,800 cubic metres and the 719-metre-long (2,359 ft) graduation tower II, with a capacity of 6,000–6,300 cubic metres, were built between 1824 and 1828. The 333-metre-long (1,093 ft) graduation tower III, with a capacity of 2,900 cubic metres, was built in 1859. The base of the towers is made up of 7000 oak piles driven into the ground, on which a spruce-and-pine structure planted with blackthorn was placed, where brine flows. The towers are arranged in the shape of a horseshoe with a total length of 1,741.5 metres ; each is 15.8 metres (52 ft) high. The brine with a concentration of 5.8% is pumped a depth of 414.58 metres (1,360.2 ft) in spring No. 11 (the so-called Grzybek fountain) into dedicated channels at the top of the graduation towers. The brine seeps on the walls of the towers, on the blackthorn, and evaporates under the influence of wind and sun, creating a microclimate rich in iodine, sodium, chlorine and bromine, thanks to which a natural healing inhalatorium developed. The towers are the second stage in the salt production process, where the brine concentration is gradually increased. The smallest concentration occurs at tower No. I (9%); the brine concentration increases at tower No. III (16%) and becomes greatest at tower No. II (30%). From the latter, the brine flows in pipelines to the salt-brewing plant (the third stage of salt production) where salt, sludge and therapeutic lye are produced. The first stage in the process of salt production is pumping brine from the source No. 11 "Grzybek fountain". The graduation towers also act as a giant air filter. In 2017, the complex of graduation towers and salt breweries, together with the Tężniowy and Zdrojowy parks, was entered on the list of Historic Monuments of History.4 points

Oh kill me now with these bullshit stories behind a freaking logo It's a logo, it doesn't make a single soul feel 'a sense of integration and consiousness that any single action has the power to contribute to a world which is more sustainable and fairer for all', for fuck's sake Anyhow, random meaningless ZG beats out a logo which at the very least shows something (like the flag's colours...). Too bad.3 points

Wrestling UWW Asian Olympic Games Qualifier 2021
LowerSaxony and 2 others reacted to MHSN for a topic
it's just the preliminary list, at the end only one of them will wrestle in the competition, sometimes they want to confuse other countries by entering multiple names. that's what Russia used to do before the internet age. (they can't do that now because everybody knows who won their trials)3 points -

Final Standing available here EupenM George_D juliosilva It was a superb performance by the Russian skaters in Stockholm at these world championships. In the prediction contest we also had superb performances and it was a close competition between many predictors. In the end, these three predictors ended with the medals. They are @EupenM, @George_D, @juliosilva. Big congratulation to all three medallists. On top of the podium and securing the gold medal was @EupenM. With eight gold medals and one perfect predictions through the contest, the numbers speak for itself. This is to my knowlegde the first gold and medal in any prediction contest for the EupenM. It's always fantastic to see new faces among the medallists. He secures France their second gold medal this year. A huge congratulation with the gold medal. Well-deserved! Securing the silver medal was @George_D. With solid predictions each day and being in the top of the standing, it is a very deserved silver medal for him. It's his second medal this year and the first of silver. Maybe soon he will take a step up on the podium and complete a medal set for this year. Congrats with the silver medal! The bronze medal was up fro grabs for many predictors. Three predictors ended with the same amount of total points, 57 points in total. But with eight gold medals and one perfect predictions, it was one of the top predictors for 2021, @juliosilva, that secured his second medal of 2021 already by winning the tie-break against @IoNuTzZ and @Dolby. Another great perfomance by juliosilva. He continues his great start of the season. Big congrats with the bronze medal! The honourable mentions will this time go to these three predictors, @IoNuTzZ, @Dolby and @Gianlu33. Both IoNuTzZ and Dolby were as close as they could get to win a medal by only losing on tie-break. It's very unfortunate when you miss out on a medal on this rule. However both predictors can look back on a great contest and maybe soon they will get their first medal of the season. In 6th-place came @Gianlu33. He needed a really good last day to have a chance for a medal. Unfortunately it wasn't enough this time to come on the podium for the second time in 2021. But another top place for him this year continuing his strong start. Lastly, thank you to all who participated in this prediction contest. According to the original calendar we would have a break for a month now after the women's ice hockey world championship was postponed to early May. But this postponement opened up for having another prediction contest in April. The men's curling world championship will begin this Friday in Calgary, so remember to make your prediction before the deadline and start of the first match. That's all from me, your prediction contest manager, Wumo.2 points

Yes, unless another skater achieves a total score of 186 points twice within the qualification period. The personal best of Niki Wories is 148 points, so that's highly unlikely. But great to have a Dutch figure skater at the Olympics for the first time since 1976!1 point -

My votes have been sent. Top 6 was settled after a couple listenings, but the rest was really difficult to give a final ranking. It took about 7-8 listenings to place some songs. I'm okay satisfied with my final ranking. However some songs I would have really liked to give points couldn't unfortunately receive any due to only being able to give points to 12 songs.1 point

looking at the women's entries for the Asian OQT, removing countries with 2-3 wrestlers we will have this number 50kg: 5 - round robin 53kg: 6 - 2 groups of 3 57kg: 6 - 2 groups of 3 62kg: 7 - 2 groups of 3 and 4 68kg: 6 - 2 groups of 3 76kg: 5 - round robin that means there will be no direct knockout competition in the women's qualifier in Asia. nobody can expect a lucky draw to qualify by pure luck.1 point

https://nocnsf.nl/olympische-spelen/beijing-2022/kwalificatie-eisen For every sport you'll find one link to a document with the international criteria and then directly below it a link to the criteria of the Dutch NOC (all in Dutch though). Section A2 of the documents include the national criteria. For some sports like biathlon and cross-country skiing, the national criteria just state that there is no athlete who has any chance of making the Olympics and therefore no further criteria were determined. As everything is in Dutch, let me know if you need any help with translations.1 point -

Three weeks after the previous post, and things went as horribly fast as they go with this....her family has just announced the death of Bibian Mentel, 48 years old. Truly one of the most well-known and well-liked athletes in the Netherlands (granted, not so much because of her athletic career, but more because of her fame on TV in recent years), and an absolute legend in parasports in general. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNA3S9olMj-/0 points
