  1. Yes, haha no Bull fighting tradition here. Anyway, I don´t know why but I always thought Matador is quite famous brand also abroad. I was completelly wrong, I guess Btw Artmedia Petržalka (that´s the offical name) is still existing in our 2nd league, (they changed the name to Bratislava for the european cups, because I assume not many people will be able to read the original name without broking their tongues) Petržalka is the "infamous" district in the capital Bratislava, was originally build in the 70´s to help the problem with sudden population increase of the city, but ended only being the national leader in drugs and other criminality rating already during the late 80´s, another epic fail of the communism era

  2. Recently one of the German skeleton sliders transferred to CZE and she automatically became Anna Fernstaedova. If you were to transfer to Latvia you would automatically become Robs TheAggies, because that is a grammatical requirement of Latvian (masculine nominative single) But we are missing the main point guys! Gabriella Soukalová is single again!

  4. Japanese people usually don't yell at anything and are mild-mannered (yeah, I know she lived most of her life in USA but the upbringing culture comes from the family). She didn't even lose her temper much when the whole stadium booed her during the Serena USO final.

  6. If that was the idea ... then his teammates didn’t do a very good job. They seem to have imitated him too well by doing absolutely nothing for the last 2 weeks. Edit: This also reminds me of a question Someone asked on german Television a couple of days ago after Buchmann lost a lot of time: “So will Buchmann just ride along like a tourist from on?“ Answer by the German tv expert: “Maybe you should try to ride a stage like that before you call him a tourist“ It was quite funny, you almost got the impression that the guy (on his couch at home) saw it as a personal insult that Buchmann wasn’t able to do any better.

  8. wow! those photos are quite scary...I thought here in Italy (and especially in Milan, Rome and Naples) we had some of the most scary blocks where living is a true nightmare, but this looks also a God's punishment as well...

  9. I was just joking with this shopping thing But surely I'm not a fan of changing citezenship only to could compete for another country. Any other reason is perfectly fine for me but sometimes it's hard to recognize is this reason a true or only a trick (I'm not saying that in Israel it is a trick). I hope you understand True that. But still it's very hard for a country outside of the top to fight for medals. Sure France can have Heinrich, Czechs Dvorak but there're still not candidates for medals. And we're talking about countries with some traditions. It's way more difficult for "new" countries. But as Korea proved it's not impossible (but not in 6 years I believe). So as you said, qualification first. I think it's very possible if they continue tradition of compete in North America Cup.

  11. “Tell me, Madame President” <pounds fist on table> “What is the Slovak Government’s official position on female names in Papuan languages of the Tor-Kwerba family? No more of your evasions & equivocations! The people of Papua New Guinea demand parity with China, or you shall feel the force of our poisoned blow-pipe darts! No jars of home-made honey shall appease us!”

  12. yep, that´s a funny part of our language, we change all female foreign names to Slovak (it is basically in our law) However the foreign names finishing by ova must be turned into -ovová, like Sharapovová, or Fiodorowová although the only exception are Chinese names which are not changed into our language by law.. For example the Olympic champion in Hammer Trow Anita Wlodarczyiková won in new world record etc... https://sport.sme.sk/c/20242855/kladivarka-wlodarczykova-stanovila-novy-svetovy-rekord.html?ref=gamp_article in this article you can find perfect example, The silver chinese girl is the only without name changed, however Fodorowa and Magieva got another ova to their original ova in their names. I know, we are weird

  15. It is in fact quite easy. There Male and Female suffix in many slavic languages, especially in the Czech/Slovak language. The suffix -ova, means basically : Belongs to.. so this means the females surname in this case basically means : belongs to ... Now, each girls surname since her born "belongs" to her father´s surname. Example: hypothetically your name is John Watson, you have a daughter, in CZE/SVK her surname will be Watsonová, just like all her sisters and mother. They carry this surname until they get married, then they receive the husband's surname and add the suffix. Example: Her husbands name is for example John Johnson, so when she get married, her surname then "belongs" to her husband, so in CZE/SVK her surname will be ... Johnsonová., just like her future daughter(s) etc... so for example Slovak biathletes: Fialková (father Fialka), Poliaková (father Poliak), Gereková (father Gerek) etc... + there also one exceptions. If the male surname finish by -ý. Like for example Suchý, Malý etc... the females suffix will not be ová but -á. Suchá, Malá etc... for example our former tennis player Martina Suchá (father Suchý)

  17. Thanks for sharing this information. How is the latest situation in India? Is it getting better?

  18. Nope, women cannot lose the -ova in her surname. because it is the ending of female surnames. She may returns to her father´s surname - Soukal - so she will be again Soukalová.

  21. And yeah, like you said, Slovenia is not poor country. We might be small, but we are not poor. Also, those cycling results did not came in one year. Slovenia has very good cycling tradition, but main problem was our cyclists were always working for someone else. I am very pleased that a Dutch team recognized hard effort and talent, put by Roglič, to work him over home athletes, such as Dumoulin and Kruijswijk. In UAE, there was always too much burden put on Aru, finally Pogačar got the chance, though let's be honest, it is going to be very tough third week for him, relying constantly only on Polanc.

  25. Surprised that this thread didn't blow up yet Apparently, the IBU World Cup is going to run as scheduled, with possibilities for venue changes in the first semester. Since health precautions cannot be guaranteed at the level of the World Cup, the Junior cup for the following season is cancelled, as well as the European Junior Championships, so the only start for juniors next season is going to be the World Championships in Obertiliach. IBU cup is also going to be delayed a lot with first races starting in January. No comment on how athletes are going to be qualifying to the World Cup was given. https://www.biathlonworld.com/news/detail/ibu-adjusts-competition-schedule-for-2020-21-season?fbclid=IwAR3OWCmhUuP-mW6sn3T2HZONvUHzpU_sXZSqkvaTKaNHrKdLfTt2ceCsWsA

  26. A big randomised sero survey of covid 19 shows 64 million people had been infected in india by the disease by May itself. As per the estimations by August end at least 1/4th of Indian population has been infected which could even be 2/3rd in worst case scenario as the sero survey results of August are out. However re infection percentage is very very less. Not sure if we need many doses of vaccine when it arrives .
