  4. Thank you everyone for their attention and support all trough this week. Fellows, we made this Special edition quite an enjoyable one. My most sincere acknowledgement to each of you, but especially fellow organizars @OlympicIRL @dcro @Vektor @Wumo and of course, the people who kindl came to my aid on short notice: my reserve juries @hckosice @Cobi @dezbee2008 @intoronto @Olympian1010 @Sindo @Vic Liu & @Vojthas. For me, the top 5 in no particular order were this: &

  5. I want to congratulate both @OlympicIRL and @mrv86 for successfully hosting the event. Personally, I was lucky with the draw, because I don't think would have reached the Round of 16 with the traditional format. Anyways, thanks to all the jurors who voted for the song at least once. In general I really liked the songs, so I had some troubles judging 4 or 5 matches, and changed my mind a few times during the competition, but finally this is my top7:

  8. Alright, that was a shit ton of pages to go through, but I'm glad I made it to the end First of all, thank you to the community who was able to vote for Hong Kong in the group stages. I chose that song because I was also in the middle of picking some songs for another contest, and when I got an invite via Twitter to join, I just had to do it. I also had chosen songs from my other choices (Guam and Swaziland, or eSwatini for you 'name nazis' out there) from that same contest. For Guam, I had chosen Pia Mia (mainly because she's the biggest pop star to ever come out of the island) with a song called Bitter Love and for eSwatini (or Swaziland), I had chosen this artist named Symphony with a song called Chance. I don't know how either of them would have done in this contest, but I don't regret it one bit. Okay, so I was in Group F with @kungshamra71 (love the song from Angola btw), @IoNuTzZ (thanks for claiming a spot already before this thing started lol), @heywoodu (I'm gonna sound stupid, but wtf though), and @justony (proof that you can tie 3-4 times in the group stage and still make it to bronze apparently, but whatevs). My favorites in no particular order are South Africa, Guinea, Kosovo, Gibraltar (I was rooting for them in the final though), Angola, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, and Burundi About the choices, there are some I wasn't surprised about and some that I never saw coming, but if you had told me that @OlympicIRL would pick Costa Rica and that would have gone on to win the contest, I would sort of believe you, because of course he will. So, it's been fun following the contest, and when we do decide to do it again, just let me know and I'll join. Whether I pick Hong Kong again or give another nation a go is totally another story

  9. Sorry I'm late everyone! Wow, where to start.... @mrv86 I cannot thank you enough for all you have done to save this contest. This required a huge effort and commitment to organise these knock-out stages and you did it brilliantly and at short notice. Amazing job, I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't stepped forward And thanks to all the other elves who stepped forward and helped out too @Wumo @Vektor and @dcro. Thanks a lot all 3 of you for your help to organise it I really did not think my entry would still be alive so late into the contest and really thought Gibraltar had this final, so thank you all who placed a vote for Costa Rica at any stage of the contest and indeed the final! When I discovered this band, I was delighted to be able to share them here and represent who are sadly absent in this forum. I would love if we could find a Costa Rican user to bring them to TISC for real. Not sure how serious @dcro was about us looking for a user but it's a nice idea even if it might not be possible. I could not vote in this contest but my favourites were and . Thanks to all who participated and let me find some new music and artists that I never heard before! I wasn't sure if anyone would guess Costa Rica was my entry but glad it made some surprises when it was revealed. @EupenM @Vojthas great to see you here in TISC for the first time and would love you to join us for the TISC Open 2020 in the next months. It's always good to have fresh ears and new users to add to our already varied bunch of music lovers. @Sindo thanks so much for your good sport in participating in this special edition. You are more than welcome to join us in the standard TISC editions anytime, it's been a pleasure to have you take part for the first time. And an honourable mention for @Quasit who made a pleasant return to TISC after his many years of service as a neutral observer behind the scenes. Thanks again everyone, looking forward to the next contest in the Netherlands. No pressure @heywoodu

  16. Yeah they did Winter in 2018. I think people liked it just as much, but it was a pain in the ass for JMRC to film some of the events. I remember there was editing issues as well, and it was more expensive than other seasons.

  19. Actually pacific nations were my first choice but I somehow feel they don't get the recognition they deserve. I would honestly not complain had Kiribati won the competition but shockingly didn't make past group stage. It was unlucky of me choosing Kosovo then Somalia, Puerto Rico entire group was chosen by me like during the draw lol. So I thought Kosovo but again I feel Kosovo deserved to win as a music nation. I had 3 songs from 3 artists all extremely famous from Kosovo. All 3 had more views than the other presented song. I went with one of my favourite songs. Among other 2, one was a movie song and other a extremely famous 700M + views song in the local language which was later translated to English after it's popularity. I'm not going to tell about which those 2 are but yeah the choice of nation to me was justified.

  20. Undecided on that. Communications gives me a couple of options. I could do journalism, PR, copy writing/advertising, social media, public speaking, etc. I’m not really sure where I want to specialize yet. I’ve still got some time to figure that out. I’ve really enjoyed all my comms classes though, so I’m certain I made the correct choice.

  22. It's quite a unique and wonderful opportunity to attend this special event representing somewhere I like very much. Thank you so much for the organization work you've done perfectly @OlympicIRL and @mrv86. And I would like to share the reason I chose Taiwan and my second and third choice, Hong Kong and South Korea . I and my generation are heavily influenced by Taiwanese music when we were growing up and most classic songs we still sing are from Taiwan. So I chose Taiwan and the most popular Taiwanese language song to attend the event. And I lived in Hong Kong for a couple of years and like its music and culture, also I like K-pop music and idols, so they were my alternative choices. And I would like to share my Hong Kong and Korean songs for you guys. G.E.M - I Love You (covered Beyond) BTS - Boy with Luv

  25. Congrats to @OlympicIRL for the win as well as him and @mrv86 organising it, was pretty fun. My original first choice would have been Belgium but I never bothered to ask for it because I thought surely somebody took it already. South Korea and Mali were my initial choices I requested which were taken and ended up with Khadja Nin instead. Thanks to everyone who liked the Burundian entry, I think I wouldn't have made it as far with my other choices. Although to be honest it was annoying losing to North Macedonia. Alternate choices:

  26. I'm surprised you say that. If you knew about my favourite songs/pieces ever, you'd attest me a weird taste in music. My taste totally depends on rhythm and how catchy the instruments/basslines and vocals are. That's why I find something to my likings from any genre but my main three would be European dance/trance/techno from the late 90s/early 2000s, power metal and a mix of ambience and (modern) classic. I figured I had more chances making the KO stages with the latter style but I could have had fun with other entries.

  34. Finally, about my pick... Funnily enough, I first heard The Free Electric Band right here when @Dragon of all people entered it for Festival of Music once. I stumbled onto it several more times and thought it would be a nice pick - first I had to discretely make sure that non-IOC members would be allowed to enter. I also considered It Never Rains in Southern California and Down by the River...

  36. Fun fact: I almost broke the rules with South Africa. My first choice was Malaika from Miriam Makeba, but then I realized that the rules don't allow it as the song doesn't originate from South Africa, so I went with her most well known song instead. Anyway, I would like to thank everyone who voted for South Africa, I am pleasantly surprised about how far it went considering how old the song is. My favorite songs were

  45. You, me, and @Vojthas teams all managed to top the standings and qualify for next year’s marble league! Congrats to @Vojthas and the Savage Speeders. They deserve a ML victory after that glorious choke last year. Overall, I’m satisfied with the Orangers performance. I would much rather have won gold obviously, but this was a marble league to remember for us, and there’s absolutely no shame in silver (it’s still a medal after all). I have a feelings things are going to get “crazy” in the 2021 ML
