    Difficulty of the Olympics

How to win the Olympics in a few easy steps: 1. Be rich and become a citizen of, say, Dominica. 2. Create the Dominican Curling association. 3. Recruit a bunch of elite Canadian players and pay for their citizenship. 4. Nominate yourself as the alternate on the Dominican Olympic curling team. 5. Don’t play (you don’t need to play a single end to be eligible for a medal). 6. Keep at it until Dominica finally wins gold. 7. Congrats?

  12. I had entirely missed @OlympicIRL's things about (rightfully) choosing to spend more time with family and friends during his holiday, that explains why @mrv86 was sending PM's which I had of course noticed but not thought of as odd for some reason Props for our Mexican friend, despite his corn threat towards my person, for taking over the duties so quickly and smoothly And I see @Vektor is joining him at least in posting results? Props to Hungary too then

  16. On to day 12 of the 2015 African Games. Today I’m treated to a Football (men’s semifinal) and more Athletics. I’m watching the Football at the moment, and commentator just had a hilarious error in speech. He referred to the “striker,” as the “streaker.”

  20. Errrm.....how did she get her start in politics? Because she was a dedicated public servant or because she was sleeping with the Mayor of San Francisco? Update: I do need to apologize - to you in fact. Someone your age who reads nothing but the leftist media will very likely not ever have heard of that particular story, since the US media & even the BBC go to extraordinary efforts to cover it up. It was common knowledge back in the day - here’s a local SF newspaper story about it from 2003. https://archives.sfweekly.com/sanfrancisco/kamalas-karma/Content?oid=2149429

  30. What is the appeal of doing that? I mean, I absolutely get the appeal of the Tatras, it is just gorgeous and I'd love to go there one day, but why go when there are thousands and thousands and thousands of others there so instead of overwhelming nature and peace you just see people waiting in line with you and probably tons of children crying "when can we go home" because they're getting tired?

  32. well, technically, if a striker takes his clothes off while celebrating a goal, he suddenly becomes a streaker... by the way, yesterday was a busy day for me... I started with game #5 between Toronto and Columbus (NHL Hockey) from the previous night, then I watched the last round of the PGA Championship (Golf) also from Sunday night... finally, last night I watche some Soccer, UEFA Europa League, live (FC Inter vs Bayer Leverkusen)... today, surely I'm going to watch the Settecolli meet (Swimming) main session (7 p.m. CET) and tonight I still have to take a decision: will it be Soccer (UEFA Europa League) or NHL Hockey (Tampa Bay vs Columbus, game #1 of the playoffs "true" 1st round)? I guess it will be Hockey, obviously...but who knows?

  37. Day 15 SuperHiperSaturday I would like to watch so many things. This is much too much to watch in one day. There were some less entertaining days before but this Saturday really a lot would be going on at the same time. Impossible to see it all live as it would happen. I would have to make my priorities and watch some replays later. Anyway, things to do are: M volleyball final - i hope it would be Poland vs USA. And i hope it would be a really good match. Athletics - firstly W marathon (i wish they could move it back to Tokyo) And The whole evening session. Big chance for a medal for Poland in W 4x400. W High jump (Lasitskene vs Ukrainians vs Kamila Lićwinko). M 1500 (with Marcin Lewandowski?). And all the other events. Last Canoeing finals. W K4 500 is a Chance for a medal for PL, too. In M C1 1000 Tomasz Kaczor was 2nd in Wch 2019 but if the Games would be in 2020 he would miss it due to injury. But he should be ready for 2021. I would watch W C2 500 and M K4 500 as well, but I really think M K4 1000 would be much more interesting. Basketball M final. Is it the first time in the Olympics when a M Gold medal Match would be played before the bronze medal game? Handball M final Equestrian jumping team final Football M final Beach volleyball M final Diving M 10m platform final And in spare time I would support one of my favourite athletes these days in her ind. All-around final in rhythmic gymnastics - Linoy Ashram of Israel
