  3. Just to update you all, @mrv86 has kindly volunteered to step in and take over the hosting duties He will be involved in posting all of the results as well as organising the PMs to be sent out to everyone. From time to time, he might ask for help from some users in order to post the results, but @mrv86 is the only other user as of now who also knows the identity of all users behind each nation / song. However, although he has also kindly offered to abstain from voting, I honestly think there is no need for that as it won't affect his impartiality so I will keep him in the pool of judges. In the meantime, I need some help with figuring out how we breakdown the amount of judges for each stage. There is a pool of 29 judges. The general idea is that judges will be excluded from voting in their own match as well as in the match involving the songs they could meet in the next round of the competition. Therefore in the semis and final, any judges who still have a song active in the contest will be excluded. So any ideas on the breakdown (including repechages and the challenge trophy)? The only additional criteria for the repechage is that just like in the group stage, judges cannot officiate in any match that involves a song that was from their group. This is the last round where this criteria will apply as there is no need for it when we go into the Round of 16 and beyond. Also @dcro depending on the number of judges for each stage, would you be able to create another arena template like you did before showing the location of each judge? If not, it's fine, we could just scrap it if it is no longer practical.

Just another quarrel between Olympian1010 and Monazanator, but this time with an addition of invalid US historical education system on WWII topic. And, although it wasn't mentioned, today is the Warsaw Uprising anniversary, so that might have subconsciously increased the effect.

  7. This has been going around for years, and recent developments (like the pushes to kill allround, also known as the very basis of speed skating) don't make it seem very hopeful.

  8. Yes, I'm missing those ads while watching an uninterrupted show as much as the smell of horse's shit on the village road while traveling with a car on a highway.

  9. Yeah. Mixed-NOC mixed team sprint would be the perfect addition for the speed skating mix.

  10. Have heard the ISU is looking to propose team sprint into the program

  11. Aww that's really sad to hear. Estavana Polman did an hour long interview with NOS for the Olympic Podcast that was released just this week. Definitely recommend listening! (In Dutch ofc) As for the Olympics 'today', swimming and athletics are once again the main events. I hope Nadine Visser and Femke Bol reach the finals for 100m and 400m hurdles. And also the RS:X medal races, archery and potentially some preliminaries in team sports.

  13. If anyone is interested in Baltic athletics, today the U18 and U20 Baltic championships start. The rules are pretty simple, two Lithuanians, two Estonians and two Latvians start in every single discipline for both U18 and U20 categories and score points for their team that will be tallied up in the end to see which country wins. The youtube livestream can be found here: and the official start is 15:00 GTM+3 (in three hours from now) There will also be real time live results on the sportify app with the password baltic2020 Personally, I never skip this event, but I have to leave at 16:00 :/ I'm definitely watching all of the second day, that will start at 11:00 GTM+3 tomorrow (gonna drop a livestream link too, if anyone is actually interested )

  14. Super Saturday! Not many Dutch athletes today, but still a lot of nice sports to choose from. The swimming finals, including the 4x100 mixed relay. I know many people here hate this part of the competition, but I like this mixedevent. First sailing medals, hopefully one for Kiran Badloe in the RSX men. Day 8 highlights the series of the 400m hurdles with our young talent Femke Bol, hopefully she can join the strong American competition in this event. And last but not least I join @rafalgorka watching the archery finals

  15. Imagine if we had 14 judges instead and concluded the match with a 7:7, we could pretend that we're doing a penalty shoot out with 5 random, not participating users deciding how the match ends And to make it even more and more complicated we could use 10 with every team having 5 "shots" and if they've voted against the team that they were affiliated, that would mean they didn't score that round I know this won't happen, it's just been a while since I last wrote something on this thread

  16. I’m going to have to join @thiago_simoes’s boycott if people are seriously going to try and justify athlete abuse. I’m sorry, but I have zero respect for anyone who believes it’s okay to abuse someone. It’s like @heywoodu said earlier there‘a a line that shouldn’t be crossed by coaches. There’s a difference between verbal abuse that aims to degrade an athlete, and actually critical feedback on a skill. There’s a definite difference between physical abuse that aims to punish an athlete, and physical training or instruction that aims to strengthen and teach an athlete.

  17. Like I said before about this coaching thing: there is a difference between pushing athletes (physically and mentally) and going way over the line. Humiliating, beating and just downright abusing teenagers is not 'pushing them to get better', that's abuse. If you can't balance on the extremely thin line in between those things, you're just not cut out to be a coach. Just like the best teachers aren't those that keep telling everyone they are 'fucking stupid' if they make a mistake, and also not those who only focus on making everyone happy.

  18. That's a rather big misrepresentation of the situation. Drilling army recruits is not really comparable with abusing teenage (mostly) girls, by not one rogue coach, but coaches all over the world.

  19. Yeah, luge is like canoeing for example. Olympics are the only item on their portfolio.

  20. That's quite harsh opinion, don't you think? I would understand if you would name like that boxing for judges problems or weightlifting because of doping but luge? C'mon. It's only your opinion, unless you have some proof to confirm it I also have opinion and I think that many lugers wouldn't do it, especially older ones. Naturals and artificials aren't very similar disciplines. I think many lugers rather change to bobsleigh or even skeleton than natural luge. Some of them probably end their carriers.

  21. It is funny to see luge in Spain consdering that we do not have a single athlete . The only Winter sport slightly popular in Spain is figure skating, specially since the appearance of Javi Fernández. A few years ago, alpine skiing was also popular, with some World Cup events being shown in public TV, as well as ski jumping with the Four Trampolines, but nowadays nobody cares about Winter sports.

I lost my mother last week Tuesday. It is literally the most devastating thing to happen to me and tbh I am still in shock/sad.

  27. Nope. They even had ceremonial discontinuation of men's C2 slalom after it got removed.

  28. Nevertheless, ICF is on the brink of bankrupcy (following the Tokyo postponement) and their events are literally disappearing as soon as they get removed from the Olympic program. Clearly a sign that they are way to dependent on the Olympics...
