  1. Stupid question or not, I'm curious as well Personally I'd go for judo, where you at least have to reach a certain stage yourself - independent from who you've fought - to be able to fight for medals.

  3. Medal tables are one of the most interesting parts of the Olympics for me. Yeah probably boring if you are from America because you win hundreds of medals and you practically know where in the table you are gonna finish each time. But for the rest of the smaller nations it really means something when an athlete wins a medal. It’s a great feeling of achievement and the medal table is another aspect of this. And another reason why tables should only be sorted by number of golds won and not total medals because that way smaller nations can climb a bit higher. Fiji with their 1 gold medal beats another medium nation who only wins 3 silvers and 3 bronze. I love that However, all-time medal tables are indeed boring

  4. She's not wrong. Most tennis players engage in sexual intercourse between each other. It's not like only women are accused of low standards here. Stepanek & Kyrgios are hardly Mr. Nice Guys. Everyone should remember the Kyrgios/Wawrinka beef over Kokkinakis banging Donna Vekic whom Wawrinka left his wife for. Jurgen Melzer had many WTA "girlfriends" too. Last time I checked Kyrgios was dating Anna Kalinskaya. Robson herself had a falling out with ex-BFF Eugenie Bouchard over the attentions of their coach. It was after Robson's career went sideways and Bouchard was trending up and wanted the coach only for herself. Of course she flamed out in ultra-quick fashion and Robson never recovered from the original wrist injury either. It's been all kinds of mess otherwise. Flavia Pennetta & Gisela Dulko's doubles pair split over Carlos Moya IIRC, Dulko has dated other Spanish ATP players too. Pennetta eventually married Fabio Fognini ofc. Andrea Hlavackova split with Lucie Hradecka because she was apparently involved with Lucie Safarova's coach and wanted to play doubles with Safarova for this very reason. I lost track of all these changes and splits based on pure sexual background and I don't even know how many lesbian doubles pairs split (Lisa Raymond & Rennae Stubbs was deffo one).

  7. Professional sport will take a very long break, and won't restart for many months, minus maybe a couple of national leagues, so we will either have a special contest, or the site will be pretty much dead outside the COVID discussion, without looking forward to anything in the near future.

  8. I honestly just don't want us getting sick of these lovely contests. And after we're done with the summer one, it will be nearly time for the Open in Autumn. Not to mention the fact that there would have to be somebody that organises and works on this contest, so it's easy to vote yes when you're probably not the one doing everything. It feels that we're all acting that covid killed the entertainment industry, but there is still plenty of stuff to do out there.

  9. Wow, I was thinking about the same exact question! I'm starting to be a bit worried that we are slowly becoming the same type of juror. It's not healthy for a good jurorship if two jurors become almost the same. I think it would be best for both of us if we start seeing other national juries...

  10. I think you probably know it but still for info Taekwondo has no repechage system in all other competitions, that's only for the Olympics. there is no perfect system, I prefer Olympic Taekwondo format, specially that bronze medal match against the SF loser from the opposite side of the draw. but I think the old format in Judo was probably better, all semifinalist loseing opponents could have a chance for bronze. in wrestling they tried so many different formats in past, some of them unbelievably unfair, (can you believe there was a guy who won all of his matches and still left the Olympics without a medal ? ) I follow wrestling since 1994, they tried so many formats before 1993: 2 groups, double elimination, group winners to the final 1993-1994: direct elimination, everybody goes to the repechage except losers from 2nd and 3rd rounds !!! I know some wrestlers lost intentionally in the first round to avoid the world champion in the next round ! 1995-1998: direct elimination, everybody goes to the repechage, that sounds fair but then sometimes you have to win 6-7 matches in repechage to win the bronze ! 1999: group format of 3 or 4 wrestlers, with group winners and some of runner-ups advance, the number of runner-ups was based on the bracket, for example they wanted to have 8 or 16 or 32 wrestlers for the knockout round, (the ugliest wrestling match I remember was from 1999 WCH , when two wrestlers from Iran and Hungary both wanted to lose to avoid Adam Saitiev, the Iranian managed to lose but then the next day they found out their calculation was wrong and he was out) 2000-2004: group format of 3 or 4 wrestlers, with only group winners advanving to the knockout round 2005-: current format

  14. Yugoslavia is different, because the now nations inside it were much more even. While in the SU 80-90% of the medals were from athletes from modern Russia. The only right thing is to have historians break down the athletes from the now defunct nations and add the medals to the current ones. This is something that i have wanted to see for many years and as a statistics buff really annoys me.. You can't have an accurate all time medal table, when Russian athletes (medals) are counted in one, two, three, four teams, while China for example has all in one. The same goes for other nations. The table should be adjusted to maximum value each present country with it's historical merit.

  16. Question 1: Would you like to see a once-off special contest to be held this summer with the final being held at some point during the old Olympic schedule? (a) Yes (b) No Question 2: Would you like it to be a themed contest? For example (sports themed, movie themed, instrumental themed, talent show themed, any other themed)? (a) Yes (b) No Question 3: If we have a themed contest, which type of theme do you prefer? Please answe even if you answered "No" to Question 2. (a) Festival of Music style - representing the nations who have not participated in TISC (b) Sports themed (c) Movie themed (d) Instrumental themed (e) Talent Show themed (f) Dance Music themed (g) Dance themed (h) Other theme - please specify I am not sure about (d), it might be hard to find original instrumental music for some. I would limit the talent show to artistic performances, because it's already hard enough to compare those from different fields, we shouldn't mix it with other kind of talents. And for (h), I would also consider the Festival of Music contest, BUT letting users to submit songs from countries that usually participate in TISC, with the one rule being that you can't submit a song from your own country. We would either have a selection process to decide who represents which country, or we simply don't have nations competing, just songs, allowing multiple users to compete with songs from the same country.

I think it will be cool if it will be a "Music Olympics" meaning that like the Olympic games have categories Athletics-marathon, 100m etc... and swimming and football ettc.. so it will be here it will be given to each country opportunity to choose if there will be representatives in that categories so for example instead of Athleatics- 100m - Rock muisc 80s so it will be like a giant parade of music that spread into a lot of time i am sure it will be a lot of work but the result coud be rewarding as well . so for anyone who reads it tell me waht you think, suggestions for improvement etc...

  21. Question 1: (b) no, in all honesty, I would like for the Summer to remain contest free Question 2: (b) no, themes restrict smaller country abilities in choosing an okay song Question 3: (a) I would like this spinoff to be as far away in similarity to TISC as possible, so the inability to represent your own country would probably be healthier for the contest's integrity.

  22. OK, but can someone explain to me, why in combat sports there are two bronze medals given away? I know it comes from boxing, where as it was said earlier, losers are too injured (although I don't think that's the point anymore - I think there is very few knockouts now and the qualification system was created so that there would be box-off for the fifth/sixth place so...). But judo, wrestling, taekwondo... they're not that brutal so that they cannot fight anymore, so why not to do the classic 3rd place bout between semifinal losers?

  27. that one! the only fair repechage system... I still regret those times...even if I don't regret at all that kind of Judo... recently I had the chance to watch once again many Judo Olympic Finals from those epic Nineties and Sydney 2000 Games...and frankly I'm really surprised to see how much the fighting style has changed (and it's changed in a positive way) in this last 10 years... even London 2012 seems to be held in another century because of the rule difference with today's sport...

  35. It got out of a lab after the epidemic (it was never a pandemic) while research was being done, I can't find any reliable source saying the SARS epidemic (again, not a pandemic) started because it was leaked from a lab. Some link to substantiate the claim would be nice.

  37. I'd say Wrestling and Taekwondo. Why? Because wrestling in Olympics has draw made from rankings which is not always right. Usually top wrestlers participate in world champs and continental giving opportunity to juniors and others in other events. Meanwhile some nations with limited resources use the same set of wrestlers in all competitions. I still remember when Sushil won silver at Olympics it was told in media if he wins first round he'll reach finals easily. Similiraly having repecharge like that gives opportunity to prove yourself.

    [OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread

For the last 5 years in Indonesia, a lot of strained family relationships happened because of difference in election votes Children ostracized by their families because they think that their candidate victory is more important than their own children. One family even had a machete battle because one member of the family suspected that the other relatives did not vote for his prefered candidate. More extreme example? A bunch of dead family members had to be reburied away from a family graveyard because their closest relatives did not support the family member who is also the landowner (which is running for the parliament). Yaaay democracy

  42. A summary from all the articles related to the virus thus far. It's REALLY starting to look, like China MAY have engineered this virus in their Wuhan Institute of Virology: (Allegations, below, taken from multiple sources on the internet. Hopefully more info will be revealed going forward) - The FIRST sick patient had no contact with that "seafood market" that the Chinese CLAIM was the source of the virus. - In fact its been claimed the first patient was a researcher at the Wuhan lab..Huang Yanling. - Huang Yanling has since "disappeared" and her bio has been removed from the lab's website. - It has been proposed she died from the virus... and her body was quickly cremated. - The workers at the crematorium were thus infected by contact with the body. - The viral infection may have spread from those workers. - There are 2 theories: 1. Two animals species, Bats and ?, created this virus. 2. The virus was "engineered". - One problem: There were no bats sold at the market. There were no bats found at the market. - After the market was shutdown, ALL the animals were destroyed and burned. - Without the animals to test it is impossible to determine if any were a secondary carrier for the Bat virus. - The Chinese government REFUSES to allow foreign scientists to investigate for the source of the virus. - The first Chinese investigative group, into Wuhan, was headed up by China's Propaganda Czar. - 14 of the first 41 sick patients ALSO had no contact with that "seafood market". - 50 of the first 99 patients ALSO had no contact with that "seafood market" - There is a claim: "The virus came to the market before it left the market" - Initial criteria for patient evaluation for this virus REQUIRED the victim have contact with the market. - This criteria obviously ruled out approx. 30% of the infected from being included in the known case #'s: - As a result the Chinese government has been charged with attempting to lower reported numbers. - The Wuhan lab is termed "Level 4". As such it is capable of handling "weapons grade" micro-organisms. - The Wuhan lab began studying the Bat virus as early as 2009. - The Wuhan Biolab previously reported they were able to modify the Bat Virus so it would attach to human cells (lungs). - A Dr. Shi Zhengli, at the lab, wrote article claiming success splicing a bat S-protein "key" to the SARs Virus. - The s-protein was taken from one of three Bat Corona Viruses found MOST effective at attaching to human cells - The s-protein allows the virus to attach to the ACE2 protein in human lung cells. - She basically created a synthetic virus, "Frankenstein's Monster". (A SARs virus with a killer, s-protein, "key", spliced on) - Her tests on mice, showed MASSIVE lung damage. - She indicated she planned to test it on monkeys. - The final "intent", as to use of this bio-engineered virus....unknown? - A French researcher, aware of her work, WARNED what would happen if that synthetic virus escaped from the lab. - "If this virus escapes it will be impossible to plot its trajectory". - Once attached this "monster" virus can EASILY enter and destroy human lung cells. - The Corona virus SHOULD be classified as a bio-engineered, military weapon of "mass destruction." - This Dr. Shi Zhengli MAY go down as another "Joseph Megala". - The Chinese government shut down ALL discussions of the virus after a Shanghai institute publish a genome study - The Wuhan General Mgr sent dictate to employees to NOT discuss COVID-19 with anyone. - The Wuhan Biolab has been called "The REAL Umbrella Corporation". - After the outbreak was made known, the Chinese government issued an edict to its labs. - The edict stated that increased precautions must be implemented to preclude virus escapes. - The edict SPECIFICALLY mentioned the Corona virus. - The Chinese government ALSO shutdown any and all studies on the virus and shutdown any discussions. - "Existing virus samples must be destroyed." - "Information about samples, related papers/data is prohibited from release". - An alternative theory: The sickness at the "wet market" MAY have been "planted" with animals from the Wuhan biolab. - There was in incident in Beijing where a researcher SOLD lab animals to "wet markets" for extra cash. - He was caught, tried and is currently in jail. - The Chinese government assigned a military GENERAL to manage the Wuhan epidemic. - That General (Chen Wei) is their expert on viral warfare. - The virus has 96% of the genetic makeup of the CoS Bat virus. - The Bat virus CANNOT infect humans to the extent this virus has. - Experts claim the Bat virus HAD to have been engineered so it could attach to proteins in the human lung. - Those same experts say it is virtually impossible for the virus to "evolve", to that deadly point, on its own. - The Corona viruses proteins match (100%} that of the SARs virus. IMPOSSIBLE via natural mutations - There IS a claim the virus was engineered to attack older men to a higher % (Military Generals, politicians, Catholic Clergy) MORE information is needed. But based on these allegations, with no further evidence, the responsibility looks pretty damning for the Wuhan Lab. A scientist from Czech who is studying about the virus together with a team of members in the lab said that the virus is very severe and damaging. She said there is no way this virus could have been so severe once it infect people. The virus might have come from the bats. However what we are seeing now is the dangerous mutated version of the bats virus which have been tampered with and it is severe. She said anyone who caught the virus they will face breathing difficulties and their lungs will be gone in just minutes of time. So scary. Hope her research team can find the vaccine and cure for this virus as soon as possible.
