  1. Calm down bro. It's not the first and not the last "interesting" news from US media. We are so used to it and just let it be. Let me show you something reported by NY times with 20 minutes interval which shows their attitudes towards the lockdown in Wuhan and Italy. One is violation of human right and the other is sacrificing themselves to save the Europe.

  4. ah again, another dumb American journalist tries to play smart first everybody knows the number from health ministry is not accurate, because they only count those who pass the final Corona test, but because of limited resources they can't test everybody. that's why I never trust the numbers, the real number of infected people is MUCH higher, 10000 is just a joke and the number of deaths is also higher (but not the way those dumb journalists try to picture) even the number announced by health organizations in each province is different, if someone sums up those numbers that gives a total number of 780 deaths at least so far for the whole country. remember local health organizations are still part of the same government, (if there was a "cover up" they wouldn't do that) the difference is they don't limit themselves to only count 100% Corona positive deaths. they also count suspected deaths too. they are almost sure about most of those suspected deaths through CT-scan but still health ministry doesn't count them because they only believe in their own 100% confirmed tests. if Iranian economy wasn't crippled and the healthcare system wasn't ruined because of financial troubles, I'm sure we would have the accurate number by now as someone who knows Iranian social media , 90% of these kind of videos are fake or exaggerated, no matter who makes them, government or anti-government organizations. I mean of course there were dead bodies but Qom is a city with more than 1 million population, mostly old population unlike the rest of the country , everyday is a busy day in the cemetery . and with the news of Corona coming out, they treat all dead bodies the same, just to not risk their own lives. that mass graves things is nonsense unless they are preparing something for the future in case that's necessary, I have first hand information about this one since I had a relative who died from Corona (as I said 2 days ago) the funeral and the grave was like any other death, they just didn't let anybody to be there when they were burying the body and they buried it much deeper than normal, his family visited the grave the next day. the Iranian government is to blame for sure for so many reasons, for not informing people about the danger very clear and very quick at first, mostly because they wanted to finish their stupid parliament election which had a very low turnout after all. (lowest ever in history) and also to not quarantining Qom, because of stupid religious reasons, only because it was Qom. and also for not cancelling all nonsense religious events immediately. (they did that but when it was too late) also for not cancelling all flights from China immediately, if someone checks the map, only central provinces are deeply involved which means the virus came through plane and directly from China. (guess why Iran is this much dependent on China and didn't cancel the flight soon) there are so many reasons to blame the Iranian regime but please, don't believe whatever you read. some so called stupid "oppositions" believe they can spread any bad thing (truth or lie) just because they hate the current regime (which I do hate too, but I hate lying more than anything else) and they feed some dumb foreign journalists with these nonsense. everything happens for a reason, and there is no reason right now to cover up anything. actually from what i see people are too much relaxed I would love to see "panic" here. if I was on charge I would announce the numbers 10 times bigger just to make people understand the danger. if people continue not listening we will reach that disastrous day your journalist tries to picture soon. we need to do something like Italy. ps: American journalists better work on their own country's problems, the last time I checked USA is no paradise regarding the coronavirus treat because of mismanagement. and maybe solving problems there, solves some problems here too. after all when you throw 10000 disasters on a country and make life miserable for people there (and you are even proud of doing that), some of those disasters come back to you too. who knows maybe some of those Iranian-Americans bought coronavirus to the United States. this is disgusting when people politicize such worldwide disasters

  9. Yup, so the nail-biting relays are not going to happen. For the first time in Lithuanian history, we finish our season in 16th place on the men's side. This means that we will have 4 quotas for our men in every race now. 10 years ago our biathlon team was Diana Rasimovičiūtė, less than 10 years ago we had 1 quota for our men. It's truly an amazing feeling to see our small team achieve this, too bad that the women's team is slowly falling apart.

  15. Every country has its own traditions hence lots of habits can't be changed in a short time. I've been to Iran for traveling, people are truly very very enthusiastic, warm-heated and talkative. But as long as you keep staying at home, you are safe. It's the stupid and effective way we handle it.

  16. hard to be calm these days that was a very good example. I'm not mad at American journalists, they usually write these kind of nonsense without knowing a shit about other countries. I get used to it. I rarely remember such things from journalists who actually traveled to Iran though I'm mostly mad at those Iranians giving them these kind of information. specially twitter is full of these kind of videos. most of them by fake accounts. this is their way of "fighting" the current corrupt regime, by being more corrupt ! this is disgusting to consider this as an opportunity. China did a remarkable job monitoring everybody, tracking every single infected person, that's simply not possible here, and if officials don't take a drastic decision like what Italy did we are going that path to need mass graves . I give up on people to be responsible. we have the Persian new year in few days, which means more traveling, more partying, more kissing, more hugging and of course more coronavirus.

  17. I usually don't predict women's wrestling because I'm not much informed about it. I mean about men's freestyle and Greco I follow almost all competitions during the year. injury news etc. but for women's wrestling it's mostly about world champions and Olympics. someone can be world champion 2 years ago but we don't know about her current shape. but let me try my chance 50kg: looks like a good draw for Castillo, bottom half is most probably about USA and CAN in the SF. 53kg: no room for luck with this format, I would go with USA/CAN naturally but that ECU girl dominated everybody at PanAms hard to write her off, 57kg: again 2 group format, I go with most obvious prediction even though ECU isn't that bad, but both USA and CAN are World Champions ! 62kg: this one is really hard to predict, I think it's easy to say who will make it to the SF but both semies will be close. there are 4 favorites here, COL and BRA alongside usual favorites. 68kg: no USA in this weight, Canada looks like huge favorite in top half , maybe BRA can challenge her. bottom half is more balanced, I say Cuba but then there is not much difference between them 76kg: I think only COL is a real treat to BRA and CAN.

  19. If you think he's bad, you should have seen our president talk at his press conference last March 9. A reporter asked it there were sufficient COVID 19 test kits and he replied by talking about the Bubonic Plague, the Spanish Flu, the Middle East, the Roman Empire and the Spanish Inquisition. It looked like something that should be on SNL

  21. to give you an answer, I refer to an interview I heard from one of Afghan top health officials. he was worried that people in Afghanistan don't take those advises seriously. that they are in big trouble but still nobody knows that. he said Iran has a "very very strong" health system and look how much trouble they have right now. if they consider our health system very very strong. you can imagine how good they are. as far as I know so many people from Iraq and Afghanistan come to Iran for medical treatment. even though in this case I believe this is more about management rather than having very good doctors. but mismanagement in Afghanistan is pretty common. they are even worse than us. I guess you guys don't follow the news (who does these days) but Afghanistan is deeply in trouble politically, two guys announced themselves president at the same day !! and the president "had" to sign an order releasing 5000 Taliban members (against people's wish) just because USA ordered them to do. right now Corona is not really their concern, and that's very dangerous.

  22. As an outsider I’d say the only boxing judging system that has ever worked was the one when they simply counted punches that landed and showed the scores in real time. Any system based on scoring abstract concepts like “aggression” & “defensive effort” etc etc will always be manipulated.

  24. all officials are from aiba, but those who judged the Rio Olympics and the last World championships have been excluded from being part of this new panel... more important, we have a new technical commission, with new members and not the same one that manipulated many results in the last 2/3 years... however, after watching the African and Asian qualifiers, I don't trust this jury panel either...I've already seen a few scandals, especially in the African tournament...

  25. yes we certainly have UK athletes who still count Berlin 2018 results in their ranking score. See rule 1.2.4.c

  26. Yes. There's no easy way out of this mess now. In my opinion, prize money and medals should be distributed based on the results of qualifications. Not the ideal scenario, but it's still better than nothing for the gymnasts. Points for Olympic qualification, though, is a way more complicated matter. If they award points based on qualifications, there will still be hope for Petrounias. If they cancel the results altogether, Petrounias will be out of the Olympics. Not to mention Kheika, Urara and other gymnasts who heavily relied on this stage to make it to the Olympics.

  29. Cuba will have a full team in Greco-Roman, they qualified 2 in Nur-Sultan and 4 more here. Pena and Orta had hard time in at least one of their matches but it was easy for Gregorich and Rosillo. I think only Egypt is capable of doing that, it will be hard for any other country even Russia to qualify all 6 weights. and Cuba can also do great in Tokyo in Greco-Roman, Borrero and Lopez are big favorites for gold. and winning a medal is not really impossible for Gregorich and Rosillo.

  32. A great athlete who competed at four Olympic Games. Apart from her gold medal in 1952 she was 7th in 1948, 4th in 1956 and then - just a few weeks before her 38th birthday - she won silver in Rome in 1960. In 1958 she became the oldest woman to break an outdoor athletic world record an achievement which she holds to this day. Her husband Emil Zatopek is considered by some to be the greatest runner of all time. After winning gold and silver in 1948, he set a record that will surely never be equalled of winning the 5k, 10k and marathon at the same Games. What makes it even more incredible is that he ran four races - there was a semi-final in the 5k - in just eight days! Difficult not to be in complete awe of such an achievement. R.I.P.

  38. Yesterday, IHF wrote that the women's OQT will go ahead as planned. The men’s OQT in Germany and Norway will be played without spectators. However, as people travelling from Republic of Korea are currently not allowed to enter Norway, the organiser of the men’s tournament in Norway will need to provide a solution or the tournament will be re-allocated. In France, the current restrictions, which would not allow the tournament to be held with spectators, are valid until 15 April. https://www.ihf.info/media-center/news/ihf-tokyo-handball-qualification-tournaments-be-held-scheduled

  44. any special reason why Mexico didn't enter Leyva ? I know he wrestled at PanAms and lost convincingly to the same guy from Cuba (the same guy your other wrestler has to face tomorrow) but still to me he was your best chance. if this guy Vicente is better than Leyva (I assume that's case) he has a chance but then he is facing the best wrestler in the competition ... I think your 77kg and 67kg are not without chance, that American guy Sancho loves to throw everything that's a dangerous tactic for himself too.

  45. Mexican government may offer to host it; after all, this is one of the few sports that received a "blessing" from our Lord and Savior senile president, despite being one of the most corrupt sport federations in the country. After all, today they announced they'll welcome any flight and any person, even if they show infection signs, because they're so "loving" and "compassionate" towards others; meanwhile the same government has left millions of people without proper medical treatments, most relevant for cancer patients, while giving away that money to useless youth that doesn't work nor study because they don't want to. And still there's people who thought I was an idiot because in other post I say, and I still mantain, that Mexico needs a military coup more than ever, as this regiime has sacked or kidnapped every independent body that could allow ordinary citizens to follow legal action against corruption.

  46. yes we have some interesting unblanaced brackets at 57 and 86 freestyle 57kg: of course USA/CUB in bottom half will be close, but I see nobody to challenge Mejias. 65kg: this one is too easy to predict 74kg: top half looks OK for Gomez , only that NCAA guy representing Colombia can be dangerous, bottom half will be very easy for grandpa Garzon 86kg: my top 3 are all in top half, I go with David Taylor but I hope Cuban gut upsets him. bottom half is wide open for everybody, I think Ambrocio will have the advantage but he got injured in Pan-Am Champs final. I don't know how good he is 97kg: no room for "luck" with 2-group format, I still go with my earlier prediction, even though that VEN guy lost to DOM narrowly in Pan-Am Champs. Cuba is 99% guaranteed a spot but the 2nd spot is available for 3 guys, DOM, CAN and VEN 125kg: againI stand on my previous prediction but Pino showed some progress in his freestyle abilities, I think he is capable of beating any of these 2 guys. and Greco 60kg: I still pick Cuba but that Colombian guy won gold in PanAm Champs few days ago and he is very dangerous. bottom half will be decided by first round match between ECU and USA 67kg: top half looks more interesting with COL, VEN and BRA, can't see much competition for USA in bottom half, maybe Mexico 77kg: golden opportunity for everybody in top half, bottom half will be more interesting with 3 favorites, Pena beat Smith in PanAm Champs (whole Smith beat him earlier in the first round) so I give him more chances. 87kg: while Greco is unpredictable in general but this one looks easier than the rest 97kg: same as my previous prediction 130kg: Venezuela is kind of lucky to avoid both Chile and USA. that Armenian guy from Brazil is his biggest challenge

  48. Well India have a chance to make history.... No country ( after the women's have been added) has ever qualified a full 13 member team..... Kaz in 2016 got 12 and US in 2012 had qualified 12 .... Can India do 13 .. ... In my opinion we can easily qualify the two lighter weights in both woman ( sonia instead if sakshi) and men ( gaurav) ... It is the 81 and 91 men which is tough...... Sumit Sangwan ( in place of Naman) and? ...... Exciting prospect is Vijender ( Olympic bronze medallist of beijing) who turned pro and is now one of the leading middle weights in the world...... He has said that he is interested and has said if he is given exemption from camps he will be happy to fight for national selection....... Wow hope that happens as this is a chance to make history for India......
