  1. I have written a book on the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, which will come out in July, 2019. I have interviewed over 70 Olympians from those Games, and researched the topic for the past 5 years. I have come to the conclusion that the 1964 Tokyo Olympics had arguably one of the greatest impacts on a nation any Olympics have ever had, and may ever have again. The 2-weeks of the Games occurred during some incredible geo-political events. And of course the sports stories were incredible and memorable. Walk down this memory lane with me. Here is a link to a recent blog post I wrote on the day it was 500 Days to Go to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, looking back to when it was 500 Days to Go to the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. https://theolympians.co/2019/03/12/tokyo-2020-500-days-to-go-what-was-happening-when-it-was-500-days-to-go-to-the-1964-tokyo-olympics-2/

  2. Great thing we have a commentator on Dutch Eurosport. For example, he can explain why world records are often higher than European records: "In events like world championships, countries from all over the world participate, which is why the records are often a big higher than the European records!" Thanks.

  3. I decided to do a playlist of all my TISC 12-point picks to date. It's a varied bunch in terms of musical genres but each had that something special. As of yet, the choice of the Irish jury has not gone on to win the contest. The choice of Malta (TISC Annual 2018) was largely at odds with the rest of the national juries (I still can't comprehend how such a great song didn't score much better), but Italy (TISC Open 2013) and Brazil (TISC Annual 2017) finished with silver medals and Canada (TISC Open 2016) finished with a bronze medal. Hopefully this year we can match with the eventual gold medal winner. Here are the songs that took the maximum score from the Irish national jury at each of the first 11 editions of the contest. Feel free to make your own 12-point playlists too to re-live more memories. TISC Open 2013 - Italy TISC Annual 2014 - Australia TISC Open 2014 - Canada TISC Annual 2015 - Slovakia TISC Open 2015 - United States TISC Annual 2016 - Denmark TISC Open 2016 - Canada TISC Annual 2017 - Brazil TISC Open 2017 - Chile TISC Annual 2018 - Malta TISC Open 2018 - Chile TISC Annual 2019

  6. "Grappling is a style of Wrestling that combine technique originated in different sports such as Freestyle Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Luta Livre Brasileira, Catch Wrestling, Judo, Sambo, and the aim of the sport consist in taking down and control the opponent on the ground and submit him using chokes and locks. Grappling, allowing technique and holds from all the wrestling sports, has the most permissive rules set among them. Being most of the fight spent on the ground, Grappling can be considered as one of the safest wrestling sport to practice. Grappling, of all the modern wrestling styles, is the closest to Ancient Greek wrestling or Pále (πάλη), that was practiced in the old Olympic Games. Grappling is divided in 2 styles: Grappling, where athletes wear shorts and a compression shirt called rashguard, and Grappling Gi, where athletes wear a kimono." 28. looking forward to this competition. unlike Asian Champs for example. European countries usually take this very seriously. but Iranian news websites posted a picture of Azerbaijan team and guess what. they naturalized another Iranian wrestler Mohammad Reza Azarshakib ! I wonder if they are very weak in super heavyweight or Azarshakib improved a lot recently cuz the last time I saw him he was still a terrible wrestler this will be interesting to see what he can do here. he will be the 4th Iranian wrestler (and the first freestyle wrestler) representing Azerbaijan after Sabah Shariati, Saman Tahmasebi and Masoud Hashemzadeh ! at least there is an "Azar" in his name PS: unlike other sports, these guys go to Azerbaijan only when nobody wants them here. Azarshakib could never make the team here. so I understand him. still I wish the worst of luck for him since I don't like mercenaries beside that he was a terrible person too.

  33. I still feel that Parkour Earth is the proper international body of parkour. FIG is using this, much the same way DanceSport stole breaking to fit their needs. Fun fact: Parkour (not freerunning) is a martial art.
