Yeah places like Ireland and Singapore had three athletes in 2016.

A quick look at the 2016 Olympics, the largest teams not to have trials are the Czech Republic, Finland, Israel and South Korea.

In Ireland's case they're calling it Olympic trials because a swimmer must achieve the qualifying standard at this competition. Darragh Greene has the QST from the World Championships so he has some wiggle room (ie a slightly lower standard than the QST)

Everyone else, including Shane Ryan who has the QST, must achieve the time at this meet to be selected.

It's the first time Ireland has had any sort of criteria, other than the FINA times

First Dutch qualifiers for the OG are confirmed. Today the last Swimming OQT started in Rotterdam.

50 free men: Thom de Boer (21,74) and Jesse Puts (21,91)

50 free women: Ranomi Kromowidjojo (24,34) and Valerie van Roon (24,63).

No other qualifiers yet (200 back, 1500 free).

Another qualifications for the Dutch swimming team for the OG at day 2 of the OQT in Rotterdam:

400 medley men: Arjan Knipping (4.18,08)

200 breast men: Arno Kamminga (2.06,85)

No other qualifiers (400 medley women, 200 free men/women, 100 fly men/women). Kind of disappointing, only 2 qualifiers today, but Arno Kamminga is a world class swimmer.

Tomorrow we'll have some important distances, like the 100 free and 100 breast. We have 6 qualifiers now, I expect 4 more and maybe some others for the relays.
