Only 16 pairs in the archery mixed team event.

Quote

The highest ranked 16 mixed teams of the ranking round in the Olympic Games will enter the Olympic Games Mixed Team competition. The top men and women score of the countries that have athletes in both genders will be used to determine the ranking of the NOC. However, the NOCs have the right to change the composition of the mixed team up to 1 hour after the ranking round. If there is a tie for the last place (16th), a shoot off will be shot to determine the last qualified team.

This is idiotic. If I counted correctly, in Rio and London there were respectively 24 and 25 countries with at least one male and one female archer.

The countries that qualify a men's and/or women's team will have the advantage of keeping only the best score, so several nations with only 1 man and 1 woman won't enter an event created for nations with 1 man and 1 woman.
