In principle this is true; however in some ocassions, injuries or lack of funds prevent some competitors from a determined event to actually participate; so in order to avoid other NOC's and sportspeople being affected by the event being canceled just a mere days before it takes place, the technical commission allows the event to still be held as official.

Yes that was in the technical documents as well

As expected, Brazil and Argentina have qualified for the Pan American Games in women's handball.

Our women's team plays worse every year. Time for a coach change.

Very few medal events today, but it's an important day for Bolivia. They have their best chance yet to win a gold medal in racquetball.

BTW, in a sports group with brazilian fans, this match was more followed/celebrated than most brazilian golds so far :d

Will Brazil be able to maintain its leadership until it reaches athletics on tuesday? If this happens I believe that it will be possible to maintain the leadership until the end.

Uruguay has 14 medals so far, not too bad, but worse than hosts Bolivia.

Not a great day for Brazil (to say the least), which was saved at the last minute with a unexpected bronze medal in Track Cycling - otherwise it would be 0 medals for us.

Tomorrow won't be a great day either with only a few outside chances. Strange that the organization didn't schedule many events for Friday and Saturday.
