I found this one for France made by Eurosport, we don't have any official awards or lists here:

Not a great year...

Anyway, l'equipe awards (which are running since 1946) are probably the closest thing to an official ranking

Men (Top 5)

Women (Top 5)

naaa...Cricket is still the biggest English sport (after Football)...even if the rugby team had won the RWC, it wouldn't have changed the rankings that much...

With cricket being locked down on pay channels only for the last 15 years, that sounds very unlikely...

:DEN

BT Gold (voted by the athletes): The Men's National Handball team

Sports Name of the Year: Mads Pedersen

Coach of the Year: Casper Jørgensen (track cycling national team)

Olympic Hope: Tobias Bjerg

And the new member of Danish Sports Hall of Fame: Mikkel Kessler

Should be the most interesting.

Hmm... I know a guy from Newcastle who claims nobody gives a rat's ass about cricket. I'd say rugby is more popular than cricket in the UK :p

I wonder what the other 63+ million people in the UK think. In most of northern England - Newcastle may be an exception - rugby union isn't even the most popular form of rugby. If football is the UK's national winter sport, cricket is the national summer sport.
