heywoodu 13,504 Posted December 9, 2019 #4196 Share Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) As far as they hadn't yet, Republicans have completely lost their shit today at Capitol Hill. Utterly shameless behaviour from some of them...they are angry at Nunes' corruption being exposed...not about Nunes being a corrupt swine (the Republican ranking member), but about it being exposed! How those people wake up and face themselves in the mirror in the morning is beyond reason. The lawyer of the Republicans has just literally no answers, at all. They just have no ammo anymore other than repeating conspiracy theories that were debunked long ago. It's as if they just found a free lawyer and told him to go sit there, unbelievable scenes. heywoodu 13,504 Posted December 10, 2019 #4199 Share Posted December 10, 2019 That very much smells like a teacher who might have gone a bit overboard in trying to show how the slave trade worked and how slaves were seen as products. I can see that argument, but we just can’t talk about it that way as a nation yet. I (personally) think that teaching kids that people can be traded for goods, held captive, and teaching them to put a price on a human life is wrong, but I do understand the educational value of teaching kids that slavery was thing. I just think we teach that information without asking the question above. We need to teach that it was wrong, and the social, economic, and national impacts of the slave trade, and then move on. We don’t need ask kids to give a price to life (although that is the American way), or to dehumanize others. “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire.
