Medals after Day 1:

:NED 2 + 1 + 2 = 5

:RUS 1 + 2 + 1 = 4

:AUT 1 + 0 + 0 = 1

:FIN 0 + 1 + 0 = 1

:CZE 0 + 0 + 1 = 1

Not only by looking at the medals, but by looking at the top 10 places per distance, we can see that :NED and :RUS are miles ahead of the rest at this tournament.

Today we saw athletes from 15 different countries. 10 different countries have finished top 10 on at least one of the distances today.

1) This event is senseless

2) Amazing time by Herzog, but this is only the beginning. I said about 2 years ago that she would win 2-3 medals (possibly gold) at the next olympics and i still stand by that, although her last season was very disappointing. Excited to see what she can do at the double distance, where she is normally stronger.

3) I am very surprised that Erbanova was so far back, normally she should have been sub 38 too. I thought that she would win silver or gold.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.
