The 2018-19 season is starting :cheer:

EVERYTHING is different: after four seasons we have the generation 2 car, meaning there's no more car changes in the middle of the race. The season starts in Ad Diriyah today (next to Riyadh), where there's three days of rain per year.....of course one of which is today  Qualifying is starting now after being postponed due to rain, this is gonna be interesting.

The Mario Kart rules will probably be shit. No series can handle the lack of overtaking but FE makes it even more difficult given all the street circuits.

Races will be 45 mins + 1 lap. That's borderline trash if you want to upstage F1 as the best series on the world. That's a glorified sprint but hey, old man Massa won't complain. He finally has a chance to speak as the 'Alpha' driver which wasn't the case in F1

Besides, F1 goes all sensitive with removing the grid girls (but not the sponsors' models) and FE kicks off in Saudi Arabia, the most human-friendly country in the world!

I've never seen any indication that they have 'beating F1' as goal. It's simply something entirely different, not a direct rival.

F1 went all female unfriendly indeed, putting dozens of grid girls out of a job they choose to do. "Sorry, you're a woman so you can not do this job", F1 went back like 60 years with that.

That's just stating a fact, basically. It is indeed closer than F1, generally speaking. Most races are way closer and there's often more than only six realistic podium contenders.

It's a spec series with the boost power limited for all teams. Technically all 22 drivers should be able to win these races.

Not entirely true because there is a difference in development between the teams, but overall, yes, it is indeed much closer than F1. Which is what Massa said.
