Even though :LTU qualified for 2019 European Championships in July 2017 - the rules were changed after that and :LTU had to battle :AUT for qualification. Unfortunately without the main players :LTU were destroyed and our ECH debut won't be happening. :mad:

The fuck is that bullshit? Changing the rules after teams qualified?

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

The rules were changed in May 2017 (so 2 months before the start of the pools later won by Austria and Lithuania), on the CEB website you can also download the letter sent to all federations on 11 May 2017:  http://baseballeurope.com/download/utejudyj1494602776.pdf/European championship seniors 2017-2019.pdf

and last night Italy had a disastrous outing against Spain, who won 8-4...

now we have to face the Netherlands already in the semifinals on Saturday, which means that 1 of the 2 European powerhouses (and it's gonna be Italy, I fear) won't qualify for the U-18 World Cup later this year...and for Italy this would be the final nail on the grave of our hopes to earn a spot to the senior 2019 Premier 12 (the 1st and only global qualifier to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics)...

Today is the opening day of the 29th Haarlem Baseball Week, the most important tournament for National teams held on European soil...

This is the official website:

https://honkbalweek.nl/

Participating teams:

The Kingdom of the Netherlands

Cuba

Japan

Germany

Italy

Chinese Taipei

tournament format: round robin play followed by a modified page-system playoff (with the top 4 teams of the round robin still on course for the final success)...

unfortuately, it looks that there's no TV and/or streaming coverage...:facepalm:

@heywoodu do you have some info about it?

Nope, but I'll ask on a Dutch forum. I do know that they didn't find a main sponsor, so they're depending on many small local sponsors. The good news is that ticket sales are going well, the match against Cuba is almost sold out already (3000 people) and 75% of the sky boxes have already been booked. Basically it needs to be a financial succes (or at least not a loss) or else it's probably over, since this is most likely the last chance for the tournament.

yes, but unfortunately they stopped the live broadcast after less than 7 innings (not to mention that it was just a still picture from behind the catcher and nothing else)...:wall:

however, good but unlucky outing for Italy...we lost "only" 1-0 after 10 innings of play in a pitchers' duel "for experienced fans" only...

MVP for Italy, the starting pitcher Luis Lugo, with only 2 hits given up and good 9 K's in 5 innings...
