hckošice 13,128 Posted March 10, 2018 #71 Share Posted March 10, 2018 Heavy fog forces cancellation of Airolo dual moguls World Cup Due to persistent fog throughout the day, officials were forced to cancel the Airolo (SUI) dual moguls World Cup competition slated for Saturday, March 10. With only one week left in the FIS Freestyle moguls World Cup season, a rescheduling of Saturday’s competition will not be possible. Unfortunately, the bad weather in Airolo came after two excellent, sunny days of training at the Ticino resort, where Saturday’s competition would have been the first World Cup event at the venue since 2004. There were some clearer windows in the at the start of the day, and men’s preliminary rounds were able to go down without a problem. However, immediately after the last heat of men’s prelims the fog settled in and would not relent, even as the jury pushed the schedule back as far as possible in hopes of an opening. Finally, there was no other option but to call off the event. From here, the moguls tour now moves to Megeve (FRA) for the World Cup finals dual moguls event, where the top 24 men and 24 ladies on the World Cup rankings - as well as top athletes from the various continental cup series’ - will be eligible to compete in the 2017/18 season-ending competition on March 18. Mikael Kingsbury (CAN) has already guaranteed himself his seventh-straight moguls and Freestyle overall globes on the men’s side of things, while it will come down to a battle between current World Cup leader Perrine Laffont of France (527 points) and the USA’s Jaelin Kauf (461 points) in ladies’ competition at Megeve. I hate snow in sports like skiing. Edited March 17, 2018 by heywoodu If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated!
