Agger 1,576 Posted April 6, 2020 #2551 Share Posted April 6, 2020 If things stay well the next week, Kindergartens and the younger classes will start opening starting next wednesday. This should make things easier for people working from home who has small children. All other restrictions stay intact until may 10th. There will be no major events until the autumn and the exams from public schools are cancelled.
heywoodu 13,500 Posted April 6, 2020 #2552 Share Posted April 6, 2020 Seeing all those pictures from everywhere, I'm damn glad there is no talk at all about military going on the streets here. That's the point where one would seriously wonder if things aren't going too far. Since declaring independence, the country has experienced more than 20 coups d'état or attempted coups, with various heads of state assassinated*. Along with this constant political instability, the population of the Comoros lives with the worst income inequality of any nation, with a Gini coefficient over 60%, while also ranking in the worst quartile on the Human Development Index. *that might not be a record, but it surely must come close --- And on a positive note: The Comoros is the world's largest producer of ylang-ylang, a plant whose extracted essential oil is used in the perfume industry; some 80% of the world's supply comes from the Comoros. --- There you go.
