news from a few days ago, but confirmed only in the last few hours...

3 Korean fencers have been tested positive for coronavirus after coming back from the last Epee Grand Prix held in Budapest...:yikes: :(

the names of the 3 unlucky athletes have not been disclosed, but the Korean Federation is quite worried about the chance of many other members of the team (and also many of the opponents they faced in that competition) could also be infected by coronavirus...

3 Chinese fencers have been tested positive at the Beijing airport on 16th March after coming back from Epee Grand Prix held in Budapest. All other fencing team members are currently undergoing the mandatory quarantine. They are all with mild symptoms. Good luck to all other fencers and TEST immediately.

The FIE website says that the European & Pan American championships start tomorrow. I don’t think that’s true, but does anyone know for certain?

absolutely, not...

fencing activity has been stopped and at least until next Autumn there's no chance any tournament is going to be held in any part of the world...

for instance, the Italian National team has just begun their training after a 3-month stop due to the covid-19...

it's impossible that they (and with them, all the other powerhouses) are going to be ready in a short while...

the 2020 Fencing season is officially over...

FIE confirmed that there will be no competitions anymore this year...

they also changed a few things in their health protocol, in order to be ready at least to try and restart the game from next January, but it's still to be seen if this will be possible...

another bad news for FIE is that they lost their sponsorship/cooperation agreement with the Swiss brand Tissot, which was the company running also the technical issues (scoring system and timing) for them...
