carivan 73 Posted November 18, 2016 #655 Share Posted November 18, 2016 I was able to attend an event today with Mariana Pajon (bmx, gold), Oscar Figueroa (weightlifting, gold) and Yuberjen Martinez (boxing, silver). I mentioned that the rotary club I'm part of had an event coming and Mariana invited me backstage and recorded a video to help promote it. Such a warm giving person. I'm even prouder now that I got to interact with such a wonderful human being. DaniSRB, hckošice and vinipereira

Federer91 2,140 Posted February 22, 2017 #659 Share Posted February 22, 2017 Another article about the venues, only 6 months after the games. http://www.businessinsider.com/rio-olympic-venues-are-abandoned-just-6-months-after-games-2017-2/#the-olympic-golf-course-took-three-years-to-make-and-drew-much-ire-because-it-was-built-in-a-national-wildlife-reserve-now-its-run-down-and-empty-
vinipereira 3,053 Posted April 10, 2017 #660 Share Posted April 10, 2017 About the "abandoned" venues, Maracanã is having regular matches from some time now (of course the field was a mess after Olympics, but now is back to normal). Also, all the five temporary swimming pools have been dismantled (even the pictures show that) and are on their way to multiple cities across Brazil - the only thing left is the Arena "skeleton" which should be gone soon since we have the Rock in Rio festival in September. Don't ask me about the golf course, though. Anyway, here's the project for the Rock in Rio festival, for which I bought tickets. Can't wait to be back at the Olympic Park, even if it isn't for a sports-related event...
