So, I doubt if their non-participation is due to they not considering themselves as a South Asian nation.

Wouldn't India be considered a bigger fail? 28 medals all time for the second most populous nation is pretty embarrassing imo. Why isn’t Afghanistan competing anymore? Essentially it’s for a number of possible reasons. The most likely reason being that they’ve joined the Central Asian region of the OCA (which is in line with some of the policies they’ve been taking). It could also be the hardship of transporting athletes because of the Taliban, or a lack of funding. “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. Meanwhile only Nepal is participating paragliding so 4 individual cleansweeps are sure with all 4 athletes from Nepal. I'd love to watch cricket match between Bhutan and Maldives. All nations are participating in only Athletics, Shooting, Badminton and Basketball.
