Even when there's a tie, I'm always favorable to a tie-breaking system. In swimming and athletics they could count the qualifying time also to break ties. There's absolutely no reason go award two gold, silver or bronze medals.

With an exception being races where there's no qualifying, although an unbreakable tie for bronze in the marathon or 50k race walk or road cycling or something is pretty rare :p

To be fair, Olympic gold medals are silver medals with a thin gold layer.

"Gold and silver medals are at least 92.5% silver. Gold medals must be plated with at least 6 grams of gold".

Soruce: https://www.thoughtco.com/what-are-olympic-medals-made-of-608456

But in all seriousness, I do think the olympic medal table should be sorted by the amount of gold medals won.

The only exception for 2 bronze medals should be in sports like boxing.... how can you have a fair bronze medal fight after one guy might get trashed by the champion and maybe injured or badly hurt? It's fairer to have 2 bronze medals for boxing. I don't watch a lot of combat sports so don't know how physical the other sports get,but for sure, if there is no disadvantage then all sports should have a bronze medal match.

Under AIBA in many cases the thrashed boxer usually was announced as winner instead of the guy who looked better but wasn´t from the "chosen country" :p

Yes, let's not remember Rio 2016 :d. Boxing does not deserve to be in the Olympics as it is currently anyway so yeah, maybe awarding no medals would be the fairest thing :d

I mean, most people would take 9 golds over 10 bronzes, but what about 1 gold over 10 bronzes? That's why a point system is probably the best. The question is which one? 3-2-1, 4-2-1, 6-2-1, 9-3-1 are all different types I've seen. Then we have ones that take into account population or GDP or a medal to event ratio...

Precisely why it is best left unchanged as the present gold medal table is recognised by all but a handful of countries. However imperfect this is probably as close to consensus as we're likely to achieve.

Not surprised when people from India or Indonesia vote for this option, since these nations rarely win gold and this is the perfect opportunity for them not to finish behind countries like Grenada or Bahamas in some editions, for example, but some of the voters are surprising.

To be fair, everyone is entitled to their opinion right? :p I'd like to clarify when I said 'wrong' I only meant that as a joke :d
