EselTheDonkey 651 Posted August 15, 2019 #31 Share Posted August 15, 2019 (edited) In my opinion, it's a much odder decision, that they ran only 5km because of the hot weather and yet kept the normal distance in swimming and Cycling. Isn't this rather unfair for the best runners? Edited August 15, 2019 by EselTheDonkey

With this result fixing, consequently they could have shared available prize money and/or ranking points. And that just comes on top of making a mockery of competition and being disrespectful to other racers. It was a British selection event! I believe they would both have been selected so that’s why they may have been jointly celebrating!

I mean, it's not like it's the first time ever there's controversy about British top triathletes crossing the finish line more or less together.. dcro 10,179 Posted August 15, 2019 #38 Share Posted August 15, 2019 Well, athletes should hope that their federations are not stupid enough to still count this as a selection event. Although, to be honest, triathlon is usually mostly about running anyway, so I guess it was nice that swimming and cycling became a bit more influential, at least for this one competition... #banbestmen

I think the DSQ was a bit much. Let them have the moment and just use the photo finish to separate them, and give them a warning. “Sport has the power to change the world.
