Quasit 849 Posted April 25, 2019 #21 Share Posted April 25, 2019 Liang Jingkun defeated Fan Zhendong, now the two top-seeded Chinese are out. Let's go, Ma Long. Stopped watching sports, there are better things in life.
thepharoah 2,264 Posted April 25, 2019 #22 Share Posted April 25, 2019 an all Chinese Semi-final in Women's singles , which's not a surprise ofc , at least we have much more competitive men's singles quarters with an European assured to be in the Semis
phelps 6,528 Posted April 26, 2019 #23 Share Posted April 26, 2019 so far we have... Chinese clean sweep in the women's singles (but we're also going to have a new world champion, at least)... 1 all Chinese and 1 all Japanese semifinals (which means that we're going to have a CHN vs JPN final) in the women's doubles... 1 all Chinese and 1 Europe (FRA or SWE) vs KOR semifinals in the men's singles... 1 all Chinese and 1 all European (POR vs a composite ESP&ROU pair) semifinals in the men's doubles... and a CHN vs JPN final in the mixed doubles (with the bronze medals gone to another CHN and to a GER pairs)... this means that CHN are still on course for a clean sweep of the world titles, that Europe will end up winning 4 medals overall (2 in Olympic disciplines from 2 different Nations, GER and FRA or SWE) and that Asia will win in the end 16 medals (1x KOR, 3x JPN and 12x CHN)... phelps 6,528 Posted April 27, 2019 #24 Share Posted April 27, 2019 and the first 2 Gold Medals went to...guess who? yessss, you're right! China is the correct answer... Liu Shiwen is the new star of women's Table Tennis...after winning the Mixed Doubles tournament with her partner Xu Xin, she doubled up her Gold Medal collection by winning the most prestigious title, the (women's) Singles by beating her teammate Chen Meng in the final match (4-2 the score)... meanwhile, Ma Long won the men's Doubles tournament (with his partner Wang Chuqin) by beating the "strange" Spanish/Romanian pair formed by Alvaro Robles and Ovidiu Ionescu (4-1 the score) in the final match and now he is also once again in the men's Singles Gold Medal match, waiting for the winner of the second semifinal (still running, 2 sets apiece while writing) between An Jae Hyun and Matthias Falck... the women's Doubles Gold Medal match is still to be played (between CHN and JPN)... And Ma's victory,to be precise. thepharoah
