phelps 6,852 Posted October 5, 2019 #141 Share Posted October 5, 2019 Just now, MHSN said: You know for some reasons that match was also "somehow" important for Iran if I remember correctly she didn't lost by Senshou. the Chinese received a caution in last 15 seconds (which annuls the Senshou) she lost by "Hantei" I don't know how things actually went...I only read the final score (and being 5-5, I thought she lost by senshou...if she really lost only by hantei, it's even more painful...and suspicious)... Just now, MHSN said: this qualification system makes things a bit weird. some results in other weights help you in another weight !!! for example I want Semeraro to win and Ferracuti to lose (sorry I like all Italian athletes, this is not personal I'm sure you know why ) and beside that it was important for Iran to keep the best ranked Asian athlete. Gong going to the final and probably winning the gold is not a good news for that . another funny thing is I realized there is a chance for Iran to even qualify at 67kg ! how ? we simply have to hope Oceania and American qualify their continental quota at 75kg (there is an Uzbek athlete in top 10) in that case our 67kg athlete only needs 500-600 pts to catch up 60kg Uzbek Saymatov (and also hoping for Kazakh athletes at +75kg to not get good results) isn't this extremely weird ? Australian results at 75kg will directly affect Iran's chance at 67kg more than weird...I found this part of the OQS really absurd...it would have been a lot simpler and fair to have only 4 quota through the ranking, 4 through the final tournament, 1 directly through the selected continental championships and 1 for the host Nation and everything would have been so clear and easy to understand...but no, thay had to make things so complicated (and somehow unfair)... p.s. yes, I saw that women's -61kg draw link doesn't work anymore...I was stuck with the semifinals' result and so I don't have any idea how repechage round went... thanks for revealing at least 1 of the repechage winners... phelps 6,852 Posted October 6, 2019 #143 Share Posted October 6, 2019 nice wins for Bottaro & Busà, but those who needed a victory the most, Semeraro and especially Crescenzo, lost badly their BM fight...so, once again, not the expected outcome for Italy also in this K1PL stage... phelps 6,852 Posted October 6, 2019 #146 Share Posted October 6, 2019 Serious stuff Iran topped the Medal Table with 3 Gold Medals, followed by Azerbaijan with 2... France, Georgia, Japan, North Macedonia, Russia, Spain and Ukraine won 1 Gold Medal each... Side dish Spain (women) & Turkey (men) can add to their table also another Gold Medal, thanks to their win in the Team Kata events...
MHSN 3,212 Posted October 7, 2019 #147 Share Posted October 7, 2019 (edited) It was probably the best K1 PL event for Iran so far. 3 gold medals and topping the medal table. I think if the qualification was today Iran could qualify 5 which is great. a year ago I was expecting 2 or max 3. for the women's events, a year ago at max I was hoping Abbasali to qualify but right now we have 4 in top 10 and 2 of them in the qualification zone. they are doing even better than the men's team. Bahmanyar won her 2nd K1 PL gold in a row , she is now 2nd in her 50kg weight. Khaksar at 55kg is also 3rd but she is something like 1000pts behind the top 2. Rozi Alipour was the biggest surprise of the competition. finally she managed to win a gold somewhere I think she will be 5th in new ranking. the 4th placed Turkish girl is the current Euro Champion and she will lose LOTS of points if she doesn't defend her title. even 5th place is good enough to win the Asian quota. in short I think Iran is in a very good situation to win at least 4 quotas. (3 is almost guaranteed) only Abbasali is seriously in danger. Edited October 7, 2019 by MHSN

phelps 6,852 Posted November 29, 2019 #150 Share Posted November 29, 2019 (edited) disaster for Italy... many poor outings, especially Angelo Crescenzo lost again opposed to the Kazakh number #2 Alpysbay (and he lost badly), meanwhile the Kazakh no. #1 Assadilov easily made the final (where he's going to meet his teammate Alpysbay in an all-Kazakh affair on Sunday) and Eray Samdan is into the bronze medal match (and won quite a few bouts to get there)... basically, Crescenzo is now virtually out of the qualifying positions in the OQR and most likely, as it looks he lost his magic touch, he won't be able to qualify even in the single shot final qualification tournament...sad decline for a reigning world champion... and even the only medal match reached by an Italian fighter (Viviana Bottaro's subscription to bronze medal matches in women's Kata doesn't count to me) it's a real disappointing result, as Luigi Busà lost in the semifinal match against a man he should beat with closed eyes (the man from Ainazarov)... ironically, in this same class, the best result of the day for us is Lorenzo Pietromarchi's win in round #1 against the reigning world champion Bahman Askari, even if then he lost in the next round and didn't go anywhere in the tournament...
