Wow 15:51:68 for Pignatiello in the 1500 free. New south american record.

I hope she gives us 3 golds at the pan am games.

#3 in the world this season, behind Ledecky and Wang. And she is not going to Gwangju :(

Why not?

Because there is overlap with pan am games and the priority is the games for any of our athletes. From this year on our NOC has a new policy: if you don't win a pan american medal you lose all funding. The only exception is winning a World championship medal, which she can do with a mark like this, but it's far from sure, so.... better play it safe.

Also it doesn't help that WCH is Korea, exactly the opposite side of the world. If they were in USA or west Europe I think our swimmers (or at least her) would have tried both.

Also, when the decision was made I don´t think there were real expectations that she would be doing potential world medal times at this point of the season.

Settecolli Meet in Rome

all Results from Day 1 and 2 here:

http://fin2019.microplustiming.com/NU_2019_06_21-23_Roma_web.php?s=TG9hZENhbGVuZGFyaW8oJzAnKTs=&cat=ASM&page=005&spec=007&bat=001&td=CGR1&hg=&descIT=TWVuIC0gODAwIG0gU3RpbGUgTGliZXJvIC0gU2VyaWU=&descEN=TWVuIC0gODAwbSBGcmVlc3R5bGU=&descFR=TWVuIC0gODAwIG0gTmFnZSBMaWJyZQ==&curCatSel_M_F=

too many excellent results to be reported here...

but I just like to spend a few words about Benedetta Pilato, 13 years young and winner of the women's 50m Breastroke (30.28), who in the morning heats set a new Italian record and swam the 3rd fastest time of the year in 30.13...:yikes::bowdown:

this kind of performance are so rare for Italian athletes when they're still so young...

Good performance, although she is already 14 years old and it's not an olympic event.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

she's not 14 yet, her birthday is later in the year...:evil:

and I know this is not an Olympic event...however, yesterday she swam 1.08.7 in the 100m Breastroke...

I'm not even expecting her to be a medal contender already next year in the Olympic distance, but just being already this year among the top specialists in the sprint distance is not an ordinary performance (and as I wrote before, it's very rare for an Italian athlete...Pellegrini was the last sub-18 global medal winner for Italy in swimming in 2004, just to make a comparison)...
