phelps 6,852 Posted September 27, 2019 #102 Share Posted September 27, 2019 Judo IJF Cadet World Championships 2019 Almaty (KAZ) - 25 September 2019 - 29 September 2019 3 days out of 4 dedicated to the individual competitions are gone...and guess what? Japan are dominating the event... so far, they have won already 4 Gold medals, with Turkey following with 2 Gold medals and a bunch of Nations (among them, Italy ) that won a single Gold medal... watching the bouts, it clear that they are still boys (and girls) aged 16 and / or 17...but in some cases, it's also well recognizable the talent and the very good technical skills that they have already developed... but the match that hits the news is not the best or the most spectacular one...it's the final of the girls' -52kg class between Liliia Nugaeva and Veronica Toniolo...they had to fight for a quarter of an hour before the decision came (4 mins of regulation plus another 10+ mins of golden score time) in the end, it was the Italian who won the gold medal...but in a certain sense it was quite disappointing that everything finshed because of a (deserved, tbh...it should have come well before) 3rd shido to the Russian... phelps 6,852 Posted October 1, 2019 #105 Share Posted October 1, 2019 (edited) and the last event of the 2019 Judo World Cadet Championships, the Mixed Team competition, was won by...guess who? yes! you're right... obviously it is Japan... I don't know even why I bother writing such result...I don't really know if in the world of sport there's something more predictable than Japan winning a team event in Judo... by the way, in total 13 teams took part in this event...and eventually Azerbaijan won the Silver medal, followed by Russia and Turkey, coming home with the Bronze medal... heywoodu 13,547 Posted November 19, 2019 #110 Share Posted November 19, 2019 Sanne Vermeer's Olympic hope (-63kg) is pretty much 100% over now at least for 2020. She was in a fight with Juul Franssen for the one spot, but got injured during the Europa League meet in Lisbon last week. Turns out she tore a hamstring and is out for 6-9 months If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated!
