The Semenya Show drags on, this time Swiss court has sided with IAAF and so she won't be going to the world championships.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Completely wrong ruling. In the US we’ve passed bills to allow to compete (especially in California).

It's not 'completely wrong'. There is no 'completely right' or 'completely wrong' in this way too complicated case.

And what kind of bill has been passed there specifically, (even though it's irrelevant in this case)? Letting female athletes with testosteron levels that are way, way above the 'normal situation' compete? Or something else?

Gender non-discrimination bills. A female (even self-claimed) has a right that should be entitled to any person. Essentially no one can be discriminated against based on gender.

I don't agree with the Swiss court, but this isn't a gender discrimination.

Semenya has an xy-chromosome. This alone already makes it debatable, if she is biologically a female. And in Sports, this does matter, because biologically male athletes have a major physical advantage compared to the females. If the female athletes have to compete against someone who has that much of a physical advantage, you simply can cancel women's sports for good.

I feel sorry for Semenya, because nothing of this is her fault and yet the poor woman got almost notorious because of this. But I also feel sorry for the xx-women, who have to compete against her.

So, any man who declares himself to be a female can participate in 2028 Olympics in women categories?

Christ, this is so, so wrong. I fully support the trans community, but gender politics should stay out of sports. I guess it would make things clear for everyone if the IOC would rename the events and have them as "High testosterone" (formerly "Men's") and "Low testosterone" (formerly "Women's") events. That way people wouldn't be able to claim that IAAF is trying to force athletes into the wrong gender category.

For years it was incredibly rare to see an athlete run under 47.50 seconds, now since last year we've got three guys who either broke or nearly broke 47 flat :p

They combined for a total of 11 runs under 47.50 so far, seven of those coming from Abderrahman Samba of Qatar.

I totally missed his result from Paris 2018. Wow! :yikes:
