:woohoo: :cheer:

That's so cool, only her second win on senior level ever :cheer: (she won a pursuit in Kontiolahti 2017, plus a gold at the European junior champs some years back)

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Women's Sprint is over Congrats to :FRA  Chole Chevalier.  She did not qualify for the Super Sprint Final yesterday and rebounded by winning.  She was one of 5 who shot clear.  Other racers of note, M Eder of :FIN made her return and finished in 39th 2+1. There were 5 who missed 6 targets, two Estonians and two from the USA.

Last IBU Cup this weekend in Martell.  A new event, the 60 person mass start.

From the IBU website:

Mass Start 60

The competition, just presented at the 2018 IBU Congress, is not just an exciting one, but can become a good option for lower level event series such as the IBU Cup and IBU Junior Cup that have big fields. The  new format's test will be held on the final day, 17 March, for 60 athletes, where the top 10 of the IBU Cup Total Score will be qualified directly and the 50 remaining spots will be field in according to the results of the previous day's sprint competition . The cup scoring points go only to the IBU Cup Total Score.

As in the traditional mass start, the men will cover the distance of 15 km (6x2.5km), while a course length for the women will be 12 km (6x2km). IBU Sports Director Felix Bitterling explained how the competition will be conducted. “60 athletes will start simultaneously; after the first loop, bibs 31-60 go into the range for their first shooting, while bibs 1-30 go out on the track for another loop without shooting. After this, the procedure is vice versa: bibs 31-60 will proceed to the course without shooting, while bibs 1-30 will have their first prone. After these two groups conducted their first shooting, the competition will be organized as in a pursuit.”

I am on the fence with this one.  I would love to see the live stream on this one, but I doubt it would be shown.

I love that idea!!! Hope to see it at World Cup. Much fairer and more exciting than a pursuit.

This instead of a pursuit would be cool, apart from it also not being very fair and having both this and the regular mass start would be batshit madness.

And since it's IBU Cup, it indeed won't be shown. Too bad they didn't try this in Arber.

There might not be a Mass 60, Only 52 women started the sprint yesterday won by Abramova of :UKR who went 0 + 0.

On the men's side there were 65 who signed up, two who DNS, three who DNF.  So only 60 finished the race.  The top 4 spots all went to athletes from :NOR with Dale taking the win.

Another sprint today, and then the Mass 60 on Saturday.  Same day as the Relays.
