Here is the song that thought was originally Cypriot in orgin, but turned out to be Greek instead.

The song is the first foreign language song I ever listened too. It was the Greek entry at the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest. It is also remembered for being ultra political in its lyrics.

Panagia Mou, Panagia Mou

Here Are the Greek Lyrics:

Kampos gematos portokalia, oi-oi mana m’
Pou pera os pera aplonet’ i elia
Gyro chrysizoun t’ akrogialia, oi-oi mana m’
Kai se thamponei, thamponei i antilia

Ston topo afto otan tha pate, oi-oi mana m’
Skines an deite, an deite sti seira
De tha ‘nai kampin’nk gia touristes, oi-oi mana m’
Tha ‘nai monacha, monacha prosfygia

Panagia mou, Panagia mou
Parigora tin kardia mou
Panagia mou, Panagia mou
Parigora tin kardia mou

Ki an deite ereipia nkremismena, oi-oi mana m’
Den tha ‘nai ap’ alles, ap’ alles epoches
Apo napalm tha ‘nai kamena, oi-oi mana m’
Tha ‘nai ta myria chalasmata tou chtes

Ki an deite gi freskoskammeni, oi-oi mana m’
Den tha ‘nai kampos, ‘nai kampos karperos
Stavroi tha einai fytemenoi, oi-oi mana m’
Pou tous sapizei, sapizei o kairos

Panagia mou, Panagia mou
Parigora tin kardia mou
Panagia mou, Panagia mou
Parigora tin kardia mou

Here is the English translation

Fields full of oranges, oh-oh my Mother
Where olive trees spread from end to end
Around them, the seashores shine like gold, oh-oh my Mother
And you’re blinded, blinded by the intense light

When you go to this place, oh-oh my Mother
And you see, you see tents in a row
It’s not a camping place for tourists, oh-oh my Mother
They’re only, only refugees

My Lady, my Lady
Soothe my heart
My Lady, my Lady
Soothe my heart

And if you see shattered ruins, oh-oh my Mother
It’s not from other, from other eras
It is burnt by napalm, oh-oh my Mother
Since yesterday, there are countless crumbled rocks

And if you see newly dug land, oh-oh my Mother
They’re not fertile fields, fields
There will be crosses planted on them, oh-oh my Mother
Which will decompose, decompose through time

My Lady, my Lady
Soothe my heart
My Lady, my Lady
Soothe my heart

SEATTLE

Pacific Region / Team

Seattle? Nice! Two years ago I did a road trip from NY to San Francisco and one of the cities we sadly missed was precisely Seattle, so I'm glad I'll be able to visit it this time!! :d

:PHI Philippines :PHI

This is one of the few Non-English song I often listen to. The band, Bamboo, was one of The Philippines biggest and most recognised pinoy-rock bands throughout the 2000's.

This song was one of the their biggest hits, and it has won several awards.

I will highly recommend the album, "Light, Peace, Love", which this song is from.

Enjoy!
