Don't know if it's because of the weather, but I do know with these clothes it was much easier to recognize the athletes, so +1 for that.

yeah, they were wearing those suits because of the cold water...and it was a big trouble for many swimmers (normally they swim in warm places, where you can't use those full bodysuits), especially for our girls (they said before the start they were going to have some problems because of those suits...they really hate them)...

being able to recognize theathletes more easily is the only good thing about this situation...

p.s. @hckosice if you can, you should also change the title of this thread in "Open Water Swimming" and so on, rather than "Marathin Swimming" and so on...;)

I take back my bad words about you, eat all the fish and vegetables you want. This post

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

I'm happy with them :d

It's often way too hard to recognize the athletes, I don't get why they simply use swimming caps in full national flag colours for example (or with something distinguishing them, like orange for the Dutch).

I agree on that...and I don't understand why they don't do it...it shouldn't be that complicated, I guess...

wow we are competing :d I see one 17 years old girl in the start list, hopefully she will swim in the right direction and finish the race :cheer:

and in the men´s event we have a 15 years old boy :yikes: any special reason, why we send them here ? the girl finished dead last 7 minutes behind the winner, and the guy is already two lakes behind

Vermeulen fighting for bronze, I had no idea she was already this good in open water :yikes:

Very nice fight for gold between Van Rouwendaal and Gabrielleschi, kilometer after kilometer.
