Oh yeah, Finland won Bronze in that olympic tournament. Horrible start for us, but the comeback was real :p

I remember I was crying that morning watching our guys crying :( but yeah, it was our fault, we had it in our hands, but messed everything with dumb mistakes in the last 10 or so minutes...

pity.. we´ll probably never have such amazing team and such chances again

Thanks for the reminder, very kind of you :d very likely the worst 20 minutes in SVK Ice Hockey history or second worst just after the last 20 minutes of Vancouver 2010 bronze medal match

Always happy to help ;)

Slovakia just needs to get it's shit together. That almost Olympic Bronze was just a tiny amount of light, not forgetting amazing silver medal few years ago at Worlds. Pretty quiet since your Gold.

Right, but it will take some time, maybe even a decade, we are just going through a generational exchange. we have some interesting talents and prospects (obviously not so big like the 2000s generation, but decent too) but they need time.

I am curious to see how our youngs will do this year (I mean the likes of Černák, Fehervary, Studenič, Liška and so) especially under the huge pressure they will face at the home world champs, because obviously they are the guys we are going to raly on them in the next years.

Well, Finland was always like our adopted hockey country, and we had the feeling it was somehow mutual.

I´ll never forget the :FIN commentator during that silver WCh journey. clearly without any shame cheering at full gaz for our guys :d

Breaking news

After Columbus elimination in the Stanley Cup Play-Offs, good news for :FRA and :SUI + :RUS

Alexandre Texier the new french super talent will join team :FRA in Košice and the 19 year old prodigy will became this year the only NHL reinforcement for "les bleus"

Also :SUI, received approval from their Columbus Blue Jackets player, the team will be reinforced by Dean Kukan

And Vladislav Gavrikov received the invitation from :RUS team, they are still waiting for his answer.

It is not certain if Ilya Vorobiov the Russian coach will send the invitation also for the other 2 players of Columbus Artemi Panarin and Sergei Boborovsky. They already even afforded themselves the luxury to send home one of their NHLer the Arizona Coyotes defencer Ilya Lyubushkin  what other countries would do to have such player in their team...but Russia just doesn´t need him, because they already have 8 other NHLers in their defence lol

Honestly Slovakia losing to Denmark was more comic than anything, but the loss to Finland at the Olympics was just heartwrenching :( It was such an amazing effort though. Big shoes to fill for sure.

This was one insanely disastrous match from both our goalies ! Especially Peter Budaj, probably his worst match in all his career, he literally got a goal from every shot..never seen anything like that before :facepalm:and then (after being quickly replaced after only 5 minute - and the match was already done) also Rastislav Staňa...

This was seriously one extremely embarassing afternoon

I've found an entire video- the commentators are talking all about how great Peter Budaj was before the game.

It's just comic in the sense that everyone was in total shock, and it didn't matter extremely much.
