  1. Sure, anybody can vote If everybody agrees I can extend the deadline until Sunday and reveal the nominees on Monday.
  2. First stage voting should end tomorrow but we only have 5 voters so far. We may have to change the schedule and give it another week, announcing the nominees closer to New Year's rather than Christmas (just like last year). Or maybe even cancel the whole thing if the number of voters is too low. I tagged last year's voters in case anyone is interested. Of course there's a lot more people who can vote (didn't wanna bother more members tagging them here), so please feel free to follow the instructions in this post
  3. That's a good idea, I didn't know we had athletes here apart from @brunamoura.
  4. Goalball qualification has been completed. For the men's tournament, the qualified teams are Egypt (absent since 1992) and Iran (2012) return to the Games, while France qualifies for the first time thanks to the host quota. In Tokyo we had 10 teams instead of 8, and 5 of them didn't qualify (including current bronze medalist Lithuania): For the women's tournament, the qualified teams are Algeria (absent since 2016) and South Korea (2000) return to the Games, while France qualifies for the first time. Out of the 10 participating teams in Tokyo, 5 didn't qualify this time (including current silver medalist USA): In general, Europe (men's) and the Americas (women's) suffered with the reduced field, while Asia did pretty great.
  5. FIRST STAGE OF VOTING First Stage voting is now open! Please copy the design from this post, fill in the categories you want to vote and send it to me by message. Voters have until Friday, December 22nd to cast their votes. Please contact me if you have any questions and pay attention to the following rules: In all categories, votes must be written in order of preference; Votes are required, at least, for the Best Female and Best Male Athlete categories; You don't have to vote in every category, but at least 3 choices are required in the categories you vote in; You can vote for athletes and teams from your own nation, but only 1 vote is allowed in each category.
  6. This voting was very close but ultimately more people were against the idea of splitting the categories. Next year we can discuss new categories.

  10. Just a few updates. I accepted @OlympicIRL suggestion and now we will have the Best Doubles/Pair or Mixed Team category. If we have more mixed events in the future, perhaps we can create a separate category. We'll be also moving forward with the Comeback of the Year category, and I would deeply appreciate any suggestions for this award.
  11. Boccia Asian-Oceanian Championships quotas Teams BC1/BC2: Pairs BC3: Pairs BC4: After the end of the continental championships, no nation managed to qualify in more than one team or pair event. I think this was the last tournament counting towards the ranking lists.

  14. Speaking of Gymnastics (Simone Biles comes to mind), what you guys think about adding the "Comeback of the Year" category? Do we have enough athletes/national teams that have made a comeback performance this year?
  15. Same here, but I probably don't watch as much stuff as you do. I mostly remember some moments from Gymnastics and the Pan American Games, none of which will have a chance to actually be nominated
  16. There are so many worthy candidates for men's and women's teams that I don't think any mixed team would have enough votes to compete if we had a single category, making the merge kind of pointless. So, if we can't have a "mixed" category (not enough contenders), perhaps it would be better to include them in another category as suggested.
  17. Yeah, I thought about her too because that's really incredible, but I didn't think others would notice (i.e. non-brazilians).
