  1. And to think Martin Haven (and John Morgan), the gods of bobsleigh commentary, are native English speakers...throw them a bag of money and let's go.
  2. Definitely not sarcastic, but honestly I also don't think it's a matter of being dumb My guess is that the main athletics commentator, who is sick, was supposed to be replaced by someone who is kind of the default backup commentator...but he also wasn't available, so the guy doing it today is someone who as far as I know literally only does commentary for football usually. With that in mind, he actually did a pretty good job overall, just that Perkovic/Elkasevic mistake was a bit unfortunate
  3. What was embarrassing about the race? The times were definitely fine. Women's 200m and men's high jump, those were probably the lowest-level events of the day I'd say
  4. "In Croatia, the women are good with the discus, for example this Sandra Elkasevic. No Sandra Perkovic this time in Xiamen." I hope the main Dutch athletics commentator gets well soon, because the replacement has a bit to learn, let's say
  5. Made the screenshot without looking, because I didn't get to the discus yet, but I hope my blind screenshot caught the full result for you
  6. I am definitely watching (although not entirely live, 20 minutes behind because I forgot ), but it'd be good to have the results to check and so on. Omega isn't updating neither. https://www.omegatiming.com/2024/Xiamen_2024-live-results Edit: whoah, there's life in the DL website!
  7. I see nothing besides regular sports programming focusing on football..
  8. If someone could give the Diamond League server a reboot so the site with results loads, that'd be great https://xiamen.diamondleague.com/program-results/program-2024/
  9. About time for a new Hajo Seppelt special
  10. I do genuinely hope she gets her life in order though, assuming the bone cancer diagnosis is real. She's still young enough to have a normal life outside of sports, so hopefully she gets better medically speaking, puts this behind her and starts life as a regular working person
  11. Seems like a relatively small strike on some military base, which at least to the outside world Iran seems to be more or less denying in order to not 'have' to hit back. In the words of Iran at the UN after they attacked last weekend: the matter should now be deemed concluded, one would imagine (and hope, nobody needs this to keep going and going).
  12. Logical, given the world's average preferences, but too bad. A Sydney or Melbourne Olympics might be my best chance ever for comfortable weather at a Summer Olympics, a rather rare opportunity
  13. Too bad, July and August kind of feel like the best times of year to visit both Sydney and Melbourne without worrying too much about melting away, and quite nice average temperatures https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Sydney#Climate_data https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Melbourne#Climate_statistics Brisbane at least seems to be not much worse, although June/July would have been slightly better...but like you said, IOC won't allow that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Brisbane
  14. Beautiful victory for Kasia Niewiadoma in the Fleche Wallone, after already finishing 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd and 2nd in her career, finally she takes the win, her first in almost five years
  15. Bernd Hölzenbein, famous for his dive that gave West Germany a free penalty in the 1974 World Cup final, has died. He played in the US in the final years of his career, but said (long) career consisted mostly of many highly impressive years at Eintracht Frankfurt. German football players are leaving this world fast the past few months..
  16. Wow, I'd expect a prouder reaction from dad
  17. Haven't fields like these been the go-to-place for throwers looking for limits and records for years already?
  18. Thanks, and interesting, especially Mollenhauer having basically grown up there, that's Azerbaijani enough I'd say
  19. 73.09m for Yaime Perez, best throw in the world since 1989.
  20. Yeah, but I doubt there'd be the interest to convert it in a non-Olympic sports venue
  21. "Time to try something new" In before Paulino jumping 2.05m high
  22. Marianne Vos herself is mostly showing sympathy for Wiebes, which once again - as we've seen for years - shows how wonderful a person Vos is and always has been.
