  1. I'm pretty sure we're clean if that's who you mean. We don't have the money to dope and keep it under wraps for so long
  2. With all of our 4th places I was expecting a couple of medals in 2019 anyway
  3. Weightlifting Men's 69k bronze medallist caught doping. Medal goes to Colombia. https://www.afp.com/en/news/829/weightlifter-becomes-first-excluded-rio-doping
  4. Bronze for Colombia!! Artykov (KYR)'s medal is taken away for a positive.
  5. http://deadspin.com/5931226/was-this-disgraceful-olympic-boxing-match-fixed
  6. And Colombia joins the list of pro-Russian judges' victims. This sport is a disgrace.
  7. Yeah, if we're going with cliches BMX would be more popular with the alternative crowd. But here in Colombia thanks to Mariana almost every housewife watches and loves it, so what do we know?
  8. Superb run by Pajon. It still baffles how the western press wanks all over Buchanan when it's clear she'd need a bad day from Mariana or an accident to even sniff that gold.
  9. CARIVAN'S COLOMBIAN PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY - DAY 11 Ingrit Valencia (Boxing) The fifth medal for Colombia comes in boxing. Ingrit completely overwhelmed her Thai rival and has reached the semifinals. She dreams of an olympic gold and winning Master Chef. The first one is just two fights away. REST OF THE PODIUM: 2. John Murillo (athletics): Overshadowed by Ibarguen on his event, he arrived without much fanfare and achieved a great 5th place and a national record 3. Fabian Puerta (cycling): Another 5th place, this time in the keirin. Another victim of UCI's willingness to bend the rules for some nations. He still made us proud.
  10. CARIVAN'S COLOMBIAN PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY - DAY 10 Fernando Gaviria (Cycling) The reigning two time world champion ended the omnium in a disappointing 4th place. Arguably, the medal was lost on Sunday. On Day 10, he managed a 4th place in the time trial and had a wonderful points race. He won the event with 41 points, jumped from 7th overall to 4th and had his lap attempt at the end prospered we'd be cheering the silver medalist. (Or the bronze one, if UCI had some shame) REST OF THE PODIUM: 2. Ceiber Avila (boxing): Yet another diploma for Colombia. He's in the quaterfinals now and will try to get a medal. Too bad he's facing a Russian (and the judges, most likely). 3. Santiago Morales (diving): Masterful preliminary round. He makes the semifinals after achieving some great dives and a 5th place.
  11. CARIVAN'S COLOMBIAN PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY - DAY 9 Caterine Ibarguen (Athletics) She promised a gold medal. She delivered. The field never posed a threat. Superb champion. REST OF THE PODIUM: 2. Yuberjen Martinez (boxing): Even though he was clearly defeated, Yuberjen achieved the highest medal in olympic boxing for Colombia and the first in 28 years. 3. Estefania Alvarez & Monica Arango (synchronized swimming): They showed up in Rio with traditional rhythm "el mapalé" and their free rutine achieved a nice 17th place in Colombia's debut in this sport. Here's hoping to this being just the first page of a long story.
  12. CARIVAN'S COLOMBIAN PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY - DAY 8 Caterine Ibarguen (Athletics) It took her 5 minutes to arrive, jump 22 centimeters over the Q mark and go back to the village. She ended the qualification run as a comfortable number 1. REST OF THE PODIUM: 2. Martha Bayona (cycling): Great run by the very young Bayona in the women's keirin. She was in a great position during the semi where the Russian runner took her out. No major harm was suffered during the crash and she secured a top 10 place. 3. Evelis Aguilar (Athletics): Huge improvement of her personal best reaching a very good 15th place overall. Aguilar is just 23 years old.
  13. At least this time it didn't end with someone in the hospital. Thank goodness for small favors and all that.
  14. Another track medal for a brit that should have been dq'd. But when it's time to bitch about Russia they're the first to get on their high horse.
  15. Sixth gold for South America The continent already tied London's tally with the volleyball finals and Pajon still to go!
  16. Holy shit. Congrats, Brazil!! Awesome!!! South America!!!!
  17. If he was wearing any other flag he might have been disqualified. But I knew right away nothing would happen.
  18. Same here. UCI wants the madison and individual pursuit back on the program, I think. But I'd also like to keep the omnium. I love the points race and the elimination.
  19. He said in an interview he didn't feel well the two days, as in out of shape, not sick or anything. And even like that he was a couple of laps away from a silver. I thought I'd be dissapointed if he didn't medaled but I'm really just feeling really proud.
  20. That points race is gonna be thrilling. I might get a heart attack mid-race.
  21. Second time ever for a South American 1-2? I remember the 2004 football tournament.
