    The Uruguayan press is already all over this lol. They say that the rules indicate that FIFA will appoint a replacement and fine Argentina. They think they could go as being since they were next in line (third at Juventud de America 2015) and they're from the same confederation (their very powerful NOC President is already on the case) or that it could be the United States since they were the ones thet lost the play-off with Colombia. They're even analysing the rivals (slow news day in Uruguay, I guess).

    I did. What a terrible brainfart lol. I can see Argentina getting 2 at least tho. Not a sure thing, but possible.

    The stated goal from our NOC is more than 1 gold for the first time ever and at least 8 total, top 30 in the medal table and above Venezuela, Mexico and Argentina. I can see 2-5 in cycling, 1-3 in weightlifitng, 0-1 in judo, wrestling and gymnastics and there's probably some bronze coming out of nowhere. Not so sure about Argentina but I do think above Mexico and Venezuela.

    Yeah, the Colombian team is having the same issues. Olympic participation might not be worth the headache

    Oh yeah, Leander, right? I think he also plays with Martina in the mixed doubles. And hopefully both our nations will! I mean, I've been enjoying the Games for years without watching Colombia win a lot and I still would but it sure would make it a lot more fun lol

    We're hoping for Pajon to repeat her BMX gold. She just won the worlds (although at home). Ibarguen has dominated women's triple jump for 3 years (although she's been a little off this year) and Fernando Gaviria has won the last two world titles in men's omniun. The road race team is pretty good but I don't dare make any prediction for that race. What about India? I know shooting always does well for you but what else are you going after this year?

    It is very weird. Her sponsors probably warned or she's trying to put them on the spotlight and avoid any shenanigans. Btw, this is Colombia, Congress elections are still two years away and I can tell you right now that the results are rigged lol.

    Neither! The last 8 years COC's gotten more money and have also gotten way smarter with how to spend it. We've gone from being beaten by Venezuela every year to leaving them behind and actually ending up above Mexico and Argentina in the last PanAms. In the Olympics, from barely taking 60-something and hoping to scratch a couple of bronzes here and there now we actually expect to get above 7 medals. Basically we got our sh*t together and if we don't mess it up this could be the new normal.

    Agreed. Although, tbh, I'd be fine with any of the 7 candidates so I don't mind it too much this time. I voted for Ibarguen, anyway. Ps. Thank you!

    Little bit of controversy in Colombia. The people voted for the flag bearer out of 7 options until June 30th and results are expected to be revealed on Wednesday. Yesterday, Ibarguen tweeted that she won't win because the sponsor of the contest is a rival of her main sponsor and that the contest is rigged. COC has denied this.
