  1. Boo. Well, I propose moving the surfing events to .
  2. earned the bronze medal in the group all-around competition at the Miss Valentine Grand Prix. This is shocking news since Turkey has never been even remotely successful in rhythmic gymnastics, but now they placed ahead of the (very competent and Olympic-quota favorite) USA group. EDIT: Now earned their first ever medal at a Grand Prix event too! The Pan American Championships are going to be very interesting.
  3. Every time IFSC pops up, I think it's something about the school in which I work (IFSC, Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina). Is this the first edition of the IFSC Pan Ams?
  4. And Youth Olympic champion too. Imagine going to the YOG with a gold medal at the 'big' Olympics. Insane.
  5. With due respect, you're describing the routines of the US girls. You have to learn to appreciate other teams too. Dutch and Canadian girls have awesome choreography, especially Brooklyn Moors. EDIT: If you want to watch routines that are closer to NCAA in elite gymnastics, Belgium is your team to watch (especially Nina Derwael). They have very simple acrobatic skills, okay-ish choreography and clean execution. But they perform too few difficult skills for me to care. I prefer gymnasts with a solid dancing background but way harder tumbling skills (Saraiva and Andrade from Brazil, most of the Russian girls, some of the Chinese girls).
  6. It was a tough choice between 2012 and 2020, but ultimately I voted for 2012.
  7. I'm still hopeful Reis will get a medal after all. Unlikely, but this sport is so crazy the results keep changing years after the events ended.
  8. American Factory won? What a surprise. @Olympian1010 must be really in shock now.
  9. Are you surprised at all? The Academy Awards were created by Americans to award American movies. In all seriousness, the Palme D'Or is the only award I respect (even though Spike Lee is the jury president this year and I dislike all of his movies).
  10. Yes! Great news. This makes for a far more exciting Olympics now. Unfortunately the same can't be said about women's artistic gymnastics. Biles will be as dominant as ever and keep this sport from being any fun. I can't wait for her to retire.
  11. I don't know... None of these songs has the strength of Say Na Na Na so far.
  12. One of my favorite songs in general. I'm not much of a fan of him, to be honest, but the lyrics of this song are fantastic
  13. That's the point: they add a lot of important themes on a superhero show. I can't stand them. I will never buy into the illusion if there are superheroes. I'm confident it's a good show for those who want to watch it, but unfortunately I don't.
  14. I'll move back to Rio in a couple of months, and this time I'll work in a military school. I guess I'll have a hard time not laughing at people there. It was the only feasible place for me to work in Rio now, though, at least for the time being.
  15. When I was your age I was a fan of the Spice Girls. Believe me: you will eventually regret many decisions. I haven't watched the show because I hate superhero movies and series. Seriously, I can't stand them. The only people in uniform I don't laugh at are athletes.
  16. I would love to see your face in 20 years when you read again some of the posts you regularly write here.
  17. Honestly, I don't see any reason for it to exist. Many sports federations have their own hall of fame, so why create another one for the Olympics? If someone is, indeed, a legend, and this has been acknowledged once, why repeat it again? We all knew about it the first time.
  18. Only two events with gymnastics. I understand that the focus is the Olympic Games, but still... In my dream world, multi-sport events would be staged like this: 1) South American Games, Mediterranean Games, Pacific Mini Games, CAC Games, Winter Youth Olympics 2) Universiade, SEA Games, World Games, Commonwealth Games, Winter Olympics, Winter Paralympics 3) European Games, Pan-American Games, Asian Games, African Games, Pacific Games, Summer Youth Olympics 4) Universiade, SEA Games, Summer Olympics, Summer Paralympics, Military World Games
  19. It's sad that nothing caught my attention besides the Olympic Games. I'm usually starved for more action during the Olympic year, but other than the continental championships and the World Cup series, there's nothing else to look for concerning artistic and rhythmic gymnastics events. Maybe the Gymnasiade, but it's usually something I completely ignore.
  20. So, that means only the best should be able to compete. Why force representation of different parts of the world in team sports when there are much better teams not even allowed to compete? I understand getting people from small nations to compete in some individual sports, but not team sports. It's not like small teams will benefit from the experience at all after a bunch of humiliating defeats.
  21. I totally agree. It's already pretty bad as is with many weak nations earning free passes, especially in individual sports. I would award universal places in athletics and swimming for most (probably all) nations and severely restrict the number of invitational places in other sports. And I am not favorable to any invitational place in team sports. I don't want to watch a match in football where New Zealand loses 8 to 0. I have better things to do with my life.
