  1. Never ceases to amaze me how every Olympics you get these badly-worded qualification documents. It's really not that hard to specify the rules clearly, at least employ someone who can do a better job
  2. There is also the following rule concerning athletes entering through a Universality place: "An athlete entering through Universality will be limited to a maximum of up to two Olympic Games in his/her career provided the athlete is not older than the age of thirty (30) as of 31st December 2024". The wording is a bit unclear, does it mean that..... 1) an athlete entering via Universality can participate in more than 2 Olympic Games so long as they are not older than 30 years old at 31st December 2024? 2) Or does it mean that no athletes over 30 years of age can claim a universality quota AND no athlete can claim a universality quota if they have already participated at 2 Olympic Games? Does anyone know how to interpret this rule? If it's 2) then the following athletes/nations are ineligible for a universality quota: Amel Melih (W) Talita Te Flan (W) Farida Osman (W) Refiloe Chopho (W) Jinq En Phee (W) Nada Arakji (W) JL Harding-Marlin (W) Cherelle Thompson (W)
  3. Ok I’ll count them as +2 quotas for each of the relays for now and we can revise them later when things become clearer
  4. I've a lot of updating to do on the qualification tracker! I am assuming I should go ahead and count the swim relay quotas for now and revise it if we don't qualify the requisite number of individual athletes to make up the relay squads. Would you all agree? The women's medley relay squad already have 2 qualified athletes so they should be good anyway. I think the men's will be fine also but we might have to sweat it out to see if a couple of our guys will be high enough up the rankings to receive invitations in their individual events.
  5. I've been daring to believe Wiffen could do something big in Paris for a couple of years now but this is really beyond my wildest dreams. Hopefully he can replicate his performances here in Paris but I imagine the opposition will be even stiffer there. Still though, going to celebrate this remarkable achievement for what it is.... 2 gold medals is insane
  6. First ever at the world championships yes Wiffen finished 4th in both 800m and 1500m last year. Hoping he can bring home another medal in the 1500m.
  7. I love the concept of this. Just wish the design was bit more polished. A circular pieces of iron in the middle might have looked neater. But really nice idea all the same
  8. 60 juries voting during the Grand Final would take the whole weekend
  9. In the end South Korea didn't join us this time, but in answer to your question, TISC Open 2015 was the last time we had 3 debuting nations: Algeria, Moldova and Portugal joined the fold on that occasion. Significantly though, Albania and Guatemala are our newest debutants since Israel joined back in TISC Annual 2020. It took 4 years to find a new debutant so it's great to have them here
  10. IRELAND Ireland has selected the band Picture This to be this year's representatives at TISC Annual 2024 with the song Get On My Love, a single from their 2023 album Parked Car Conversations. I hope you enjoy Picture This - Get On My Love
  11. Sorry for the confusion. The rule is that if it is a copy then the original song must also have been released in 2023. This is only a rule for the Annual edition because we want brand new music. For example if a British artist produced a copy of Bohemian Rhapsody, it wouldn’t be eligible for Annual because the song isn’t original. Anyway thanks for understanding and looking forward to your first participation and hopefully the first of many. It’s a fun contest and hope you will get involved in all the fun discussion we have before and especially on the day of the final
  12. Hi @Erigert, welcome to the contest, it is a pleasure to have Albania here for the first time About the song, it must be a brand new (original) song. Since this song was released a few years ago, you will need to choose a different song. We have another contest later in the year (Open contest) where we can choose older songs and you may select this song when that contest is opened. However for this contest, the Annual edition, you must find a new song that was released since Jan 1 2023. I’m sorry about that. Is there another song from 2023 that you can choose?
  13. You can select the song, we have had similar instances in the past for other nations and it absolutely makes sense that this song should be allowed. There really wasn’t enough time for this song to have been selected for last year’s edition so in my mind it belongs in this year’s edition. Its also the reason I added the loophole about the album to help get some of these types of songs qualified by a rule. For others we have always used a little discretion. The fact that this song charted in 2023 is another indicator it belongs in this edition
  14. If the song was released in an album in 2023 then it’s eligible. Also if it’s just 2 days before the cut off point we can make a rational decision to allow it. Essentially the song will have become known in 2023 and so it seems right it should be allowed. For the annual contest we will always have this weird situation with songs released at the very end of the year but in reality they became known to their audience throughout the months after that.
  15. Bambie Thug won the Irish national final and will represent Ireland in Malmo with their song Doomsday Blue:
  16. Ireland is in the Pro League so will have matches against the top nations which should help with Olympic preparation. What an achievement for this team to make it to the Olympics, they’ve had to completely rebuild in recent years and it all came good at the right time
  17. I found it here: https://onb.ilca.roms.ar/ilca6women2024/images/onbdocs/Fleet_Assignment_for_Monday_8th_January_2024.pdf At a quick glance it looks like 8 nations will battle it out in the Gold Fleet for the 7 Olympic slots:
  18. That’s so sad, she was so young here too. I loved that performance as well, one of my favourite also.
  19. I watched the entire PDC World Championships this year apart from a couple of sessions in the afternoon before Christmas when I was working. I’ve always been a massive darts fan
  20. Famous athlete will pass away in 2024. Wow they are really showing their powers of prediction there.
  21. Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2024 brings you health, happiness and peace in your hearts.
  22. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. I hope you have a wonderful time with your families and that you have a happy and healthy Christmas. And I hope you are spoiled with something nice to open and good food and drink.
