  1. Women's epee, pool round is completed.

Joining already advanced :CAN are :PER :CHI :ARG :VEN :COL :CUB :MEX :PAN :CRC :PAR

Chile with a good performance to grab the third seed. Looks like her Pan American Games performance was not a fluke. On the other side, Paraguay despite having a chance to win the quota, just barely made it to the elimination round.

Out of curiousity, what would be the easiest sport for him to qualify in? Is there a summer equivalent (in terms of qualifying) of cross-country skiing before the changes to make it harder/more realistic? I'd guess athletics with the universal quota, but if only one athlete from :TGA is better in the 100m or something, that'd be tough :p

Of course world rankings in MTB are quite odd that way too I believe, or has that changed by now so athletes can't get high enough anymore solely based on 'easy' races?

For him, it would be judo. All he needs to do is literally show up to one event which awards points and he will qualify to the Olympics.

This is assuming no more Pacific nations decide they too would like a free quota.

  3. I thought the United States would take 3-4 quotas, but at best than can only win one. There's still the world qualifiers starting next week, but if they repeat their performance they may leave empty handed.

It's not like another nation is having a great performance, the six quotas awarded have been awarded to different nations.

  4. I mean it was quite clear that Kharun wanted to swim for the United States, but the whole citizenship issue forced his hand.

Three years is a long time waiting for a change though so he might reconsider.

  5. Here is the selection criteria

As per World Aquatics, Canada can nominate a maximum of 26 male and 26 female athletes.

Priority 1: Finish in the top 2 and achieve the OQT at the event.

Priority 2: Finish in the top 4 in the 100m and 200m freestyle events to compete in the relays.

Priority 3: Winners of the 100m backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly to compete in the relays.

Priority 4: Additional 100m and 200m freestyle or 100m medley athletes to compete in the relays (based on director's recommendation)

Priority 5: Swimmers who have achieved the OQT during the qualification period (March 1, 2023 - June 23, 2024) and finished in the top 2

Priority 6: Swimmers who have achieved the OCT during the qualification period, won the event and finished within 1% if their fastest time will be provisionally nominated pending World Aquatics invitation.
